SUMMARY:

Assists the Director and Co-Director of the New Jersey Institute for Successful Aging (NJISA) in the development of the Institute and the successful achievement of its clinical, educational, and research missions and goals with a particular emphasis on the acquisition of external funding.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Networks with representatives from the public and private sectors, including but not limited to government, academia, pharma and industry, professional and community-based organizations, and funding agencies to achieve the Institute's mission and goals.

Interfaces with other University units such as the offices of Research and Sponsored Programs, Grants Management, Protection of Human Subjects, Government Affairs, University Affairs, and Academic Affairs, in order to advance the Institute's mission and goals.

Identifies and facilitates linkages/collaborations between NJISA and other departments and faculty of Rowan University in Glassboro for purposes of project and proposal development.

Participates with NJISA leadership in the development of funding strategies for the NJISA.

Coordinates and oversees the pre-award grant seeking activities of the NJISA, interfacing with NJISA faculty, staff, and collaborators as needed.

Identifies and/or assists in identifying federal, state, and private funding opportunities. Makes recommendations regarding their feasibility.

Devises work plans for proposal development and submission to support grant-related projects.

Prepares proposals and/or provides technical assistance and support to faculty and staff in their preparation, including but not limited to participation in the writing of proposals, including needs assessments, program work plans, logic models, program evaluation, program sustainability, letters of support or collaboration, and biosketches. 

Collaborates with NJISA Director of Administration and Budget Analyst in aligning budget projections with programmatic objectives for initial budget development, justification and revised budgeting for proposals and projects.  

Participates in post-award grants management, including preparation of narrative progress reports and non-competing continuations, quantitative data performance reports, and related supporting documentation.

Works with Principal Investigators/Project Directors and the education team in preparation and submission of project abstracts for national presentations and articles for peer-reviewed publications.

Serves as the NJISA's liaison to the Rowan Foundation.  Provides information and project-related reports as requested.

Manages the activities of the Osteopathic Heritage Foundation endowment, including project-related activities and required reports.

Oversees and coordinates student research projects (i.e., MSTAR. SMRF) with assigned faculty mentors, research consultant and support staff, Department Administrative Director, and Budget Analyst.  

Keeps abreast of current policies, programs, trends and developments in the fields relevant to the NJISA's mission, goals, and programming.

Prepares and/or supervises preparation of reports for both internal and external sources, drafts position papers and testimony, etc.

Compiles statistics and provides in-depth background research and/or supervises these activities in support of the Institute Director's strategic planning, fundraising and marketing activities.  Prepares reports with findings, conclusions, and recommendations.

Participates in the public relations and marketing activities that support and foster the Institute's goals and programming.

Plans, executes and/or directs the execution of special projects.

Understands and adheres to Rowan's compliance and standards as they appear in Rowan University’s Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct, and Conflict of lnterest Policy.

Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Master's degree required, PhD preferred in a health or human services field plus a minimum of ten (I0) years’ experience writing grants to both public and private funding sources including federal and state agencies and national organizations. Previous experience in program development, implementation, and evaluation is required. Must demonstrate strong organizational and writing skills and be able to consistently produce results with minimal supervision. Must possess comprehensive knowledge of federal, state, and private grant procedures and regulations, and demonstrate a successful track record of grant funding. Must be able to research, organize, and synthesize complex information into comprehensive written and verbal communications for a wide variety of target audiences. Must be able to work professionally with all levels of staff and as part of a team. Must be able to adapt to and remain productive in a work environment with changing workload priorities and multiple deadline pressures.

The report contains information regarding campus security and personal safety including topics such as: crime prevention, public safety authority, crime reporting policies, fire safety, disciplinary procedures and other matters of importance related to security on campus. The report also contains information about fire statistics in Rowan University Residential Facilities and crime statistics for the three previous calendar years concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by the University; and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from the campus. This information is required by federal law, Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act or "Clery Act" and is provided by the Rowan University Department of Public Safety.
