Description:

The Staff Nurse, under the supervision of the Director of Student Health Services and Charge Nurse, functions as part of the health care team in providing primary/urgent health care services within the Rowan University Wellness Center’s Student Health Services to a diverse population of full and part-time undergraduate and graduate patients. The successful candidate will triage and assess the health care needs of students, will assist the physicians and nurse practitioner with evaluations and treatment of students, will provide health education and will provide bedside nursing care in our short-term treatment and observation rooms. The candidate will consult with physicians and other members of the health care team, and will make referrals as needed. The staff nurse will assist in several campus-wide health promotion initiatives, health education programs, and research and quality improvement activities.

Requirements:

  • Current and valid New Jersey license as a Professional Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Current CPR-Healthcare provider level
  • Candidates must be flexible to meet the needs of the Center during the weekday and evenings.
  • The candidate will be expected to work one day during the semester while classes are in session and be available for additional days, as needed. 

Skills:

  • Must possess competencies in RN clinical skills, health promotion education, critical thinking, interpersonal skills, trans-cultural care, leadership and a commitment to ongoing professional development.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor in Nursing or current candidate for Bachelor in Nursing.
  • College health experience.

Note:

  • This part-time position is for up to twenty-five (25) hours per week and is not to exceed 944 hours per fiscal year. Work is contracted annually to coincide with the fiscal year and is contingent upon budget appropriations.

Pay Rate:

  • Commensurate with experience.

The report also contains information about fire statistics in Rowan University Residential Facilities and crime statistics for the three previous calendar years concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by the University; and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from the campus. This information is required by federal law, Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act or "Clery Act" and is provided by the Rowan University Department of Public Safety.
