Rowan University is seeking an innovative and entrepreneurial leader to serve as the Dean of both the College of Science and Mathematics (CSM) and the School of Health Professions (SHP).  The Dean will help to set the visions for CSM and SHP in collaboration with faculty, staff, and students within the framework of the University’s strategic plan. As the chief academic and administrative officer of CSM and SHP, the Dean’s responsibilities include: (1) oversight, enhancement, and development of high-quality undergraduate and graduate programs; (2) facilitation and expansion of research; (3) budgetary oversight, fundraising, and development of new revenue sources; (4) alumni relations; and (5) promotion of a diverse and inclusive environment.  The Dean is charged with helping to implement and further develop the overall vision of Rowan University’s long-term strategic initiative of moving from a Carnegie-classified Doctoral University R3 (Moderate Research Activity) to an R1 (Highest Research Activity).


The successful candidate will possess the following:

  • A terminal degree in one of the College’s or School’s disciplines or a related field from an accredited institution

  • An established record of excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service appropriate to the rank of Full Professor with tenure, including a sustained and successful externally funded research program

  • Experience with research enterprises that incorporate multiple investigators

  • An approach to instruction and mentoring that focuses on preparing students for  science, math and health careers.

  • Experience with developing collaborations for interdisciplinary education and research

  • Outstanding  communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills

  • Demonstrated success in administration, fundraising, budget and personnel management, and facilitation of grant acquisitions

  • Experience with strategic planning and new program development

  • A comprehensive understanding of faculty needs, in order to enhance pedagogy, research activity, growth, and collaboration

  • A vision for continued and expanded academic development and industry partnership


The College of Science & Mathematics enrolls approximately 4,000 undergraduate and graduate students in the Departments of Biological Sciences, Chemistry & Biochemistry, Computer Science, Mathematics, Molecular and Cellular Biosciences, Physics & Astronomy, and Psychology. The School of Health Professions has over 1000 undergraduate and graduate students in the Departments of Health & Exercise Science and Nursing. Further information is available at and


The position will be available July 1, 2018. The salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The report contains information regarding campus security and personal safety including topics such as: crime prevention, public safety authority, crime reporting policies, fire safety, disciplinary procedures and other matters of importance related to security on campus. The report also contains information about fire statistics in Rowan University Residential Facilities and crime statistics for the three previous calendar years concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by the University; and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from the campus. This information is required by federal law, Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act or "Clery Act" and is provided by the Rowan University Department of Public Safety.
