Director of Innovation for Rowan Medicine

Reporting to the Dean of Rowan School of Osteopathic Medicine (RowanSOM), the Director will  use the Rowan Medicine/RowanSOM clinical enterprise as a proving ground for innovative ideas, policies, devices etc. that address the needs of the our patients and the community at large.  The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker that can work collaboratively to develop solution platforms for innovation that enhance communication and integrate and leverage various Rowan University departments into one cohesive cross-functional innovative team. The combinations of resources will be critical to successful piloting of various projects that ultimately improve the patient experience at Rowan Medicine.

The successful candidate will have experience with the impact of technology facilitating business model innovation. Familiarity with the health care environment is preferred.


  • Identify the framework for innovations at Rowan Medicine, Rowan School of Osteopathic Medicine, and Rowan University.  Develop a model for partner relationships for innovation, facilitate innovation development, conduct analysis of key potential long term partnerships, and solidify and sustain key partner relationships.

  • Collaborate and leverage Rowan University R&D, Rowan Medicine (care delivery and operations) engineers, mathematicians and the Tech Park facility to lead the Center of Innovation in development and launch new innovative services and products (alpha and beta prototypes) and/or identify new technologies for licensing or acquisition that improve access to care, that facilitate patient navigation, or enhance interoperability among patients, physicians and the community.

  • Work with key stakeholders to assess  external and internal  needs of patients.  Understand the healthcare environment from the perspective of both value based care and the move toward market consolidation of healthcare providers. 

  • Develop strong industry partnerships and connections to  validate market opportunities based on patient needs

  • Leverage insights into an  education plan that engages  students for a technology enabled healthcare  future


  • Evidence of entrepreneurship
  • Strong organizational  and project management skills with the agility to manage cross functional projects
  • Familiarity with  customer (patient and others) unmet needs with healthcare system
  • Outstanding  communication skills
  • Ability to facilitate development of prototypes
  • Ability and familiarity of technology transfer and/or acquisition
  • Ability to fund sources of innovation through grants, angel investors or venture capitalists
  • Ability to commercialize innovation


Ph.D., and/or D.O. /M.D. degree with proven record of using technology to improve the patient experience.

The report contains information regarding campus security and personal safety including topics such as: crime prevention, public safety authority, crime reporting policies, fire safety, disciplinary procedures and other matters of importance related to security on campus. The report also contains information about fire statistics in Rowan University Residential Facilities and crime statistics for the three previous calendar years concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by the University; and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from the campus. This information is required by federal law, Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act or "Clery Act" and is provided by the Rowan University Department of Public Safety.
