Functions with considerable autonomy in providing professional evidence-based trauma-focused treatment services to clients and their families.


1. Provides evidence-based trauma-focused therapy as clinically indicated to assigned clients.

Provides appropriate therapy with empathy and concern for the client as indicated by supervisory observation.

Involves client and/or family in developing achievable and understandable psychosocial treatment goals/plans in accordance with accepted professional standards, as assessed by supervisory staff.

Spends appropriate percentage of time in direct service, as determined by Institute Directors and/or unit program description.

Advocates for appropriate resources for clients and families based on assessed needs to accordance with professionally accepted standards as measured by supervisory interactions and record review.

Responds with sensitivity to cultural and social-economic issues of clients as assessed by supervisory staff.

Manages termination issues in an effective and timely manner as measured by supervisory observation.

Manages caseload demands effectively while considering both quality of care and agency needs, as assessed by supervisory staff.

2. Maintains appropriate client records in a timely manner as mandated by Institute policy.

Completes report of initial assessment and treatment plan 14 days business days after last assessment appointment, as indicated by review of records.

Completes termination/discharge summary within 14 days of termination of services, as indicated by reviews of records.

3. Other related activities

Provides therapy through grant-funded programs as requested.

Administers standardized measures as per assessment protocols.

Adheres to grant-funded treatment protocols and completes all required records and reports.

Maintains client contact expectations.

Participates in training activities.

4. Outreach services

Provides evidence-based trauma-focused therapy in DCP&P office.

Maintains client contact expectations.

Provides expert consultation to DCP&P staff.

Performs other related duties as required.


To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.


Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW) and Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Master's Degree in Counseling and Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) preferred. Licensed Associate Counselor (LAC)) applicants will qualify with opportunity to obtain LPC. Experience with child abuse therapy (e.g., TF-CBT) preferred. Experience in the field of substance abuse preferred. Ability to provide services to clients in Spanish strongly preferred.

The report contains information regarding campus security and personal safety including topics such as: crime prevention, public safety authority, crime reporting policies, fire safety, disciplinary procedures and other matters of importance related to security on campus. The report also contains information about fire statistics in Rowan University Residential Facilities and crime statistics for the three previous calendar years concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by the University; and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from the campus. This information is required by federal law, Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act or "Clery Act" and is provided by the Rowan University Department of Public Safety.
