Position Summary:

  • Under the supervision of the Director of Achieving Success through Collaboration, Engagement, and Determination (ASCEND); the Clerk Typist will perform typing, budget recording/management and office operations tasks for the assigned work area. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate excellent customer service skills.
  • Create and maintain student records and electronic database records.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office and Banner to produce reports and documents.
  • Monitor department budget and complete requisitions.
  • Work cooperatively with multiple departments and personnel.
  • Schedule appointments for various departmental staff.
  • Maintain active student rosters from Banner system and create spreadsheets.
  • Assist in the coordination of program events and services to include space reservations, agendas, and scheduling. 
  • Assist in the organization and distribution of mid-semester student evaluations.
  • Monitor and operate the ASCEND web chat system.
  • Answer telephone calls and provide appropriate, clear and concise information.
  • Produce various types of departmental correspondence.
  • Order, track, receive and maintain stock of office stationery and supplies.
  • Prepare recap timesheet for the professional staff, obtaining authorization from the Director and submission to the payroll department.
  • Assist with compilation of data and the completion of budget and program reports.

  • Candidates will be required to take and pass a typing test at 40 wpm or higher or show proof of passing a NJ Civil Service Commission or Rowan University typing test in the past. The test will only be scheduled for candidates selected for interview.

The report contains information regarding campus security and personal safety including topics such as: crime prevention, public safety authority, crime reporting policies, fire safety, disciplinary procedures and other matters of importance related to security on campus. The report also contains information about fire statistics in Rowan University Residential Facilities and crime statistics for the three previous calendar years concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by the University; and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from the campus. This information is required by federal law, Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act or "Clery Act" and is provided by the Rowan University Department of Public Safety.
