Summary:

  • The Access Services team at Campbell Library is made up of 9 staff members. The team works together to make Campbell Library and its resources accessible to Rowan students, faculty, and staff. Duties shared in this essential Public Service team include: circulation, inter-library loan, stacks maintenance, book repair, course reserves, and inventory. We seek a dynamic leader to foster professional growth, effective communication, and efficient workflows. The incumbent will supervise and evaluate staff according to NJ State Civil Service processes. This staff position reports to the Director of Public Services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of the Access Services department, including circulation, reserves, interlibrary loan, and stacks maintenance
  • Manage workflows, develop work routines and assign work to Access Services staff
  • Enforce existing policies and make recommendations for new or improved policies
  • Maintain high customer service standards and courteous conflict resolution with patrons
  • Facilitate opening and closing procedures for Campbell Library
  • Hire, coach, review, and supervise employees: technical library assistants and principal library assistants
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the organizations and units that impact the work of Access Services
  • Participate in the deselection/withdrawal of items from the library’s collection
  • Actively engage in professional development
  • Represent Access Services on appropriate library, campus, and consortia meetings

Education Requirement:

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree.

Experience Requirement:

  • One (1) year of professional experience determining administrative practices, policies, and operations; including making recommendations preferably in a Library Access Services department in one or more areas of circulation, reserves, and/or interlibrary loan.

  • Experience supervising full-time staff
  • Ability to work collaboratively in an academic community
  • Ability to multitask
  • Commitment to personnel management and staff development
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral

Hours:

  • The hours for this position are Sunday through Thursday.
  • Position may require occasional evening hours.

Salary Range:

  • P20 (Step 1 = $49,263)

The report also contains information about fire statistics in Rowan University Residential Facilities and crime statistics for the three previous calendar years concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by the University; and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from the campus. This information is required by federal law, Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act or "Clery Act" and is provided by the Rowan University Department of Public Safety.
