  • Under the direction of the Office of Career Advancement (OCA) Director, responsibilities include reception (greeting, directing and assisting students, faculty and employers); answering the telephone and in-person inquiries, screening and referring calls appropriately; making appointments; obtaining student folders; distributing appropriate forms; utilizing word processing for documents, mailing, etc.; utilizing Banner and the network as needed; providing support for all phases of the On-Campus Recruitment Program; providing support for Profs Jobs, eRecruiting, providing support for all phases of special career events including Alumni Career Exploration Night, Internship Fair and Education Expo; assist with coordinating student workers; complete tasks as requested by the Director and professional staff.

Functional Areas of Responsibility:

  • Set up appointments, maintain calendar, schedule conferences, as well as correspondence. Work with students and employers creating Profs Jobs’ accounts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Back up, open, stamp and register all payments for events sponsored by OCA, prepare transmittal and deliver to Bursar for processing.
  • Access Banner system to look up information on students for setting up appointments.
  • Update and maintain calendar for OCA involving all meetings and events for each semester.
  • Assist with the development of materials for events held by OCA, e.g. flyer, name tags and evaluations.
  • Track expenditure and creating weekly reports for the Federal Work Study Program.
  • Assist in designing and implementing strategies to increase student participation in program.
  • Assist with establishing and maintaining collaborative efforts with agencies to recruit students.
  • Provide database management for recruitment, records, and financial aid audits.
  • Greet and assist customers by effectively communicating accurate information when answering questions, making appointments and providing services in-person, over the phone and via email.
  • Process duplicating requests for OCA and ensure requests are completed.


  • Candidates will be required to take and pass a typing test at 40 wpm or higher or show proof of passing a NJ Civil Service Commission or Rowan University typing test in the past. The test will only be scheduled for candidates selected for interview. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Practical knowledge of receipt administration, accounting principles and standard operating procedures.
  • Ability to work in a stressful environment and with great attention to detail.
  • Ability to work odd hours and as a member of a team.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and administrative skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in the development of new programmatic initiatives.
  • Sensitivity to and awareness of the needs of a diverse student population.

  • Strong interpersonal, analytical and organization skills; and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and expertise in budget development and management.
  • Ability to build cross functional alliances and train personnel in proper procedures and policies.

The report contains information regarding campus security and personal safety including topics such as: crime prevention, public safety authority, crime reporting policies, fire safety, disciplinary procedures and other matters of importance related to security on campus. The report also contains information about fire statistics in Rowan University Residential Facilities and crime statistics for the three previous calendar years concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by the University; and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from the campus. This information is required by federal law, Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act or "Clery Act" and is provided by the Rowan University Department of Public Safety.
