  • Support the Benefits Team and Human Resources as Benefits Administrator.  Primary areas of responsibility include Leaves of Absence (LOA), Workers Compensation, COBRA program eligibility, and other key benefits of Rowan University.

Administer Leaves of Absence:

  • Communicate with employees, managers, HR staff and payroll (including sending initial paperwork and providing detailed LOA letters to employees).
  • Consult employees on the LOA process and related questions.
  • Complete temporary disability forms and coordinate with the State on follow-up requests. 
  • Work with Office of Equity and Diversity on any ADA requests. 
  • Ensure health premium payments are received when employees are on an unpaid LOA.
  • Maintain spread sheet and work with HRIS to update leave information.

COBRA Eligibility:

  • Review bi-weekly HR-termination report to ensure all former eligible employees are provided a COBRA packet.  
  • Enter termination deduction codes in HRIS system and terminate benefits in EPIC system.

Short-Term Absence Notifications:

  • Send payroll information regarding employees out due to illness, jury duty, bereavement and/or military leave.
  • Collect physician notes, notices of jury duty and proof of death, and communicate receipt of documentation to appropriate stakeholders.

Housing Incentive:

  • Distribute information about the housing incentive program and applications to eligible employees.
  • Maintain excel spread sheet and word document with participant information. 

Age 26 Dependents:

  • Distribute COBRA information / letters for dependents attaining age 26 and update HRIS system regarding ending health coverage.   

Donated Leave Requests:

  • Assist in the communication of any donation requests.
  • Collect donations and notify donor of approval/denial. 
  • Create spread sheet with listed donor information and assist payroll in monitoring related leave time.

Workers Compensation:

  • Process/administer all workers compensation injuries/claims.


  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. 
  • Two (2) years of professional experience in a Human Resources role, preferably in a benefits and/or leave of absence administration role. 


  • This part-time position is for up to twenty-five (25) hours per week and is not to exceed 944 hours per fiscal year. 
  • This position shall serve as a temporary replacement for a full-time employee. At this time, the available position is approved through November 13, 2018. However, the exact duration of the temporary assignment is subject to change, as it shall be based on the return date of the full-time employee.

Pay Rate:

  • Commensurate with experience

The report contains information regarding campus security and personal safety including topics such as: crime prevention, public safety authority, crime reporting policies, fire safety, disciplinary procedures and other matters of importance related to security on campus. The report also contains information about fire statistics in Rowan University Residential Facilities and crime statistics for the three previous calendar years concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by the University; and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from the campus. This information is required by federal law, Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act or "Clery Act" and is provided by the Rowan University Department of Public Safety.
