The Department of Health & Exercise Science at Rowan University invites applications for a ¾-time instructor position to teach within the Health Promotion and Wellness Management program (HPWM), beginning in the Fall 2018 semester.



This position is a 10-month position and the successful candidate will teach a total of 18 credits over two semesters. Candidates are expected to have an expertise in the field of health promotion and wellness through both education and work experience.  Courses to be taught may include but are not limited to: Foundations of Health Promotion and Wellness Management and Health Behavior: Theory and Practice.  Teaching assignments will be assigned based on the successful candidate’s expertise and departmental needs.  The successful candidate will also serve on the Program Team, which engages in ongoing review of the curriculum and assessment of graduates’ preparedness to enter the profession.  The successful candidate will also be expected to be involved in service to the Department.




  • A master’s degree or higher in Health Promotion, Wellness, Community Health or a related field from an accredited institution of higher education is required.
  • Candidates should also have experience designing and teaching undergraduate courses in health promotion, wellness and community health.
  • A teaching/learning philosophy consistent with the mission of the Department of Health and Exercise Science.  Knowledge of current research-based best teaching practices and the role of technology in teaching and learning.
  • Demonstrated commitment to working in an environment devoted to collaboration, collegiality, professional development, diversity, scholarly inquiry, student learning, civic responsibility, and respect for all people


Starting Date:  September 1, 2018
