Position Summary: 

Under the direction of the Provost, the Professional Services Specialist 4 assists Administrative/Financial Assistant, Academic Affairs with the hiring and administration of Adjuncts, exercises independent judgment and maintains the confidentiality of sensitive materials.  


Functional Areas of Responsibility:


  • Coordination of Work Processes
  • Staff liaison with Offices of Budget, Human Resources, Payroll and Information Technology
  • Manage the process of hiring adjuncts for Fall/Spring/Summer
    • Work with colleges to hire adjuncts through the PageUp system
    • Work with the colleges to initiate the electronic adjunct assignments in Banner Self Service, comparing to Section Tally to insure accuracy
    • Utilize FLAC to generate adjunct assignments for Fall & Spring semesters
    • Summarize Summer Teaching Contracts in Excel for upload into Banner
    • Troubleshoot and access Banner HR and faculty workload to facilitate the FLAC process
    • Review and correct (if necessary) all adjunct contracts not processed in FLAC
    • Troubleshoot faculty questions regarding pay
    • Create pay schedules each semester for adjunct pay
    • Manually enter adjunct and overload assignments in the payroll system through Banner HR.
  • Create reports gathering information from different sources
    • Create the Adjunct report each Fall & Spring semester and provide to the State AFT office twice each semester
    • Create the Adjunct Replacement report for Fall & Spring semesters
    • Work with Rowan Global to create the In-Load Adjunct Replacement for Fall & Spring Semesters
  • Provide coordination for a variety of complex projects and assignments and confidential high level administrative and research related support.
  • Coordinate communication among the divisions, faculty members, college staff, student and community groups.  Respond to questions requiring judgment, knowledge and interpretation of policies.
  • Work with administrative staff within each college to facilitate accurate reporting of adjunct hiring
  • Provide coordination for a variety of complex projects and assignments and confidential high level administrative and research related support.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

 Education and Experience: 

  • Bachelor Degree plus one (1) year of professional experience in human resources
  • Proficiency in Banner, specifically finance and HR required
  • Proficiency in PageUp
  • Ability to define problems, collect and analyze data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications required

Salary: AFT Range 18

The report contains information regarding campus security and personal safety including topics such as: crime prevention, public safety authority, crime reporting policies, fire safety, disciplinary procedures and other matters of importance related to security on campus. The report also contains information about fire statistics in Rowan University Residential Facilities and crime statistics for the three previous calendar years concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by the University; and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from the campus. This information is required by federal law, Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act or "Clery Act" and is provided by the Rowan University Department of Public Safety.
