The Department of Marketing and Business Information Systems in the Rohrer College of Business at Rowan University invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor of Management Information Systems (MIS) position beginning September 2019. 


Department Information: 


The department offers Bachelor of Science degrees in Management Information Systems, Marketing and Supply Chain and Logistical Systems. In addition, the department offers undergraduate minors in Marketing and Management Information Systems and concentrations in the MBA program in Marketing and Management Information Systems. 

The department is expanding its coverage of business analytics and information security as it relates to the programs housed in the department while maintaining its AACSB accreditation and building on its strengths in global business and strategy.  With this new hire, the department expects to provide better coverage of existing courses, introduce new courses, build new partnerships, and increase integration of the programs as well as increased collaboration with other Rowan University colleges/departments/programs including but not limited to Computer Science and Systems Engineering.

General Information:

The Department of Marketing and Business Information Systems is one of three academic departments within the Rohrer College of Business, which is AACSB-accredited.  The department also supports the Rohrer College of Business MBA program with specializations in Marketing, Management Information Systems, and Supply Chain and Logistical Systems.

The department's atmosphere reflects the invigorating environment at Rowan University, which is a nationally recognized, regional, comprehensive state institution with a present enrollment of over 18,000 students. The university is located in a suburban, residential setting in southern New Jersey, less than 20 miles from Philadelphia and is situated in close proximity to Atlantic City, New York City, Baltimore, and Washington D.C.

Description:

Responsibilities include teaching courses in management information systems, maintaining an active research agenda in a related area and in support of quality teaching, participating in assurance of learning activities, engaging actively in department, college, university, professional, and outreach activities as well as mentoring students.

The college is particularly interested in applicants with a teaching and research background in business analytics and database; however, candidates in all areas of specialization are encouraged to apply.Teaching assignments may include undergraduate and graduate courses in a traditional classroom format as well as online delivery.

Qualifications: 

Ph.D. in MIS from an AACSB accredited institution by August 31, 2019 is required. 
Proven excellence as a teacher and demonstrated potential as a researcher are preferred. 
Prior experience in graduate and online teaching is desirable as is relevant experience in a business setting. 

Starting Date: September 1, 2019

The report also contains information about fire statistics in Rowan University Residential Facilities and crime statistics for the three previous calendar years concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by the University; and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from the campus. This information is required by federal law, Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act or "Clery Act" and is provided by the Rowan University Department of Public Safety.
