Position Description:

  • Reporting Analysts work with Business Intelligence Analysts to improve institutional effectiveness and innovation across the functional areas of Rowan University.  Together, they identify data/reporting/system solutions utilizing various tools to develop processes and solutions to optimize operations.
  • The Reporting Analysts are expected to develop solid knowledge of Rowan University’s systems of record, database functionality, and operational processes. As well, they expertly utilize systems and reporting tools to produce strategic views of data.


  • Coordinate the completion of external institutional surveys such as US News and Peterson’s Annual Survey of Academic Institutions
  • Collect, prepare, analyze and report data in response to both internal and external data requirements/requests
  • Provide data for mandatory state and federal reporting, including New Jersey SURE Reports and IPEDS
  • Work with Business Intelligence Analysts to identify and prioritize data collection, ensure data validity and integrity
  • Perform ad-hoc queries based on multiple databases using SQL and other tools
  • Create Congos reports based on technical and functional requirements from internal and external clients
  • Participate in team code reviews and quality checks
  • Develop dashboard solutions for high-level analyses
  • Work with ASA team and the Rowan community to ensure Banner and EDW/ODS data integrity
  • Create and maintain documentation for all new and revised reports

Experience Requirement:

  • Two (2) years of professional-level experience in one or more combination of the following: ad-hoc report development, report automation, and data analysis. 

Education Requirement:

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree.
  • Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute applicable, professional-level experience on a year-for-year basis. Therefore, to qualify under the substitution allowance at this level, candidates must possess a total of at least six (6) years of applicable, professional-level experience.


  • Ability to write complex SQL inquiries
  • Demonstrated experience using any Business Intelligence reporting tool (Cognos preferred)
  • Strong analytical and data management skills
  • Experience with Extract, Transform, and Load Processes (ETL)
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment
  • Higher education experience is a plus

The report contains information regarding campus security and personal safety including topics such as: crime prevention, public safety authority, crime reporting policies, fire safety, disciplinary procedures and other matters of importance related to security on campus. The report also contains information about fire statistics in Rowan University Residential Facilities and crime statistics for the three previous calendar years concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by the University; and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from the campus. This information is required by federal law, Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act or "Clery Act" and is provided by the Rowan University Department of Public Safety.
