Participates in the assessment, treatment planning, and treatment of the clinical needs of clients under the supervision of a licensed psychologist.  As indicated, also participates in the development and dissemination of research in the area of child maltreatment.


1. Provides evidence-based trauma-focused therapy as clinically indicated to assigned clients under the supervision of a licensed psychologist.

a. Provides appropriate therapy with empathy and concern for the client, as assessed by supervisory staff.
b. Involves client and/or family in developing achievable and understandable psychosocial treatment goals/plans in accordance with accepted professional standards, as assessed by supervisory staff.
c. Spends appropriate percentage of time in direct service, as determined by Institute Directors and/or unit program description.
d. Advocates for appropriate resources for clients and families based on assessed needs to accordance with professionally accepted standards, as measured by supervisory interactions and record review.
e. Engages clients in appropriate treatment program, as observed by supervisory staff in case presentations.
f. Responds with sensitivity to cultural and social-economic issues of clients, as assessed by supervisory staff.
g. Manages termination issues in an effective and timely manner, as assessed by supervisory staff.
h. Manages caseload demands effectively while considering both quality of care and agency needs, as assessed by supervisory staff.

2. When applicable, participates in CARES research.

a. Participates in ongoing research project(s).
b. Assists with the dissemination of research findings.
c. Participates in research publications.

3. When applicable, provides outreach services under the supervision of a licensed psychologist.

a. Provides evidence-based trauma-focused therapy in DCP&P office.
b. Provides consultation to DCP&P staff.
c. Maintains client contact expectations.

3. Maintains appropriate client records in a timely manner as mandated by Institute policy.

a. Completes report of initial assessment and treatment plan within 14 days after last assessment appointment, as indicated by review of records.
b. Completes termination/discharge summary within 14 days of termination of services, as indicated by review of records.

4. Provides mental health screenings in the Comprehensive Health Evaluation for Children (CHEC) Program under the supervision of a licensed psychologist.

a. Provides mental health screenings to children/adolescents entering the foster care system following appropriate protocol.
b. Scores and interprets assessment measures, and summarizes findings in a report completed within a timely manner.

5. When applicable, provides Comprehensive Psychological Evaluations as clinically indicated under the supervision of a licensed psychologist.

a. Conducts evaluations following appropriate protocol, following ethical and legal guidelines for forensic evaluations, as assessed by supervisory staff.
b. Communicates findings/recommendations in a clear and effective manner, as assessed by supervisory staff and review of records.
c. Completes reports in a timely manner, as assessed by supervisory staff and review of records.

6. Maintains knowledge of trends and developments in the field via Institute’s training program.

a. Regularly attends and participates in in-service meetings and other, designated training events that will enhance clinical skills as documented by attendance at same, as assessed by supervisory staff.
b. Identifies and develops area of expertise related to child abuse/trauma, as assessed by supervisory staff.

7. Other related activities.

a. Provides therapy through grant-funded programs as requested.
b. Conducts assessments to determine treatment goals and monitor therapeutic progress and administers standardized measures as per assessment protocols.
c. Maintains client contact expectations.

8. Performs other related duties as required.


An individual with a Doctoral degree in psychology or related field (Ph.D., Psy.D., Ed.D.) that will be conferred no later than 90 days from the position start date.

The report also contains information about fire statistics in Rowan University Residential Facilities and crime statistics for the three previous calendar years concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by the University; and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from the campus. This information is required by federal law, Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act or "Clery Act" and is provided by the Rowan University Department of Public Safety.
