Under the direct supervision of the Assistant Vice President of Facilities Design and Construction the Project Manager will be responsible for the management of design, construction, and other professionals employed in the planning, design and construction of capital projects. 

  • Responsible for the administration of financial records, and the development and maintenance of project budgets and reports. 
  • Responsible for the administration and maintenance of all contract documents, daily work reports, correspondence, change order requests, change orders, and related project documentation. 
  • Responsible for verification of work performed and the recommendation for approval and payment of the amounts invoiced on behalf of architects, engineers, building contractors, construction managers, and other consultants. 
  • Coordinate the planning, design, engineering, and construction of projects with other representatives in Planning, Facilities and the Campus Community. 
  • Coordinate project progress meetings, issue monthly status and financial reports, update construction progress schedules, ensure that proper permits/reviews and zoning ordinances are obtained. 
  • Manages work to assure adherence to departmental processes and procedures associated with the execution of capital projects. 
  • Manages assigned capital program elements to assure execution of projects within established budgets and schedules.  Generates monthly reports of budget and schedule performance of assigned capital program projects for University administration. 
  • Develop working partnership with the Facilities Planning and Operations staff to assist in development of project related scope and vision criteria to advance the campus Strategic and Master Plans
  • Position will manage a broad array of campus projects including new construction, building renovation, deferred maintenance, furniture, architectural enhancements, building envelope, MEP upgrades and landscape/storm water management
  • Individual must have the technical ability “to be hands on”, solve project related issues in the field as they arise and leverage their experience to find appropriate solutions within established project budget and schedule expectations
  • Responsible for managing all safety aspects of assigned projects including interface with the University’s Environmental Health and Safety Department
  • Accountable for interfacing and developing relationships with campus Facilities Operations Staff to ensure project commissioning, turnover and training are completed per project specifications and University standards
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 Experience Requirement:

Project Manager

  • BA/BS degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture or field related to construction management, or equivalent combination of education and experience may be acceptable. 
  • At least three years of progressively responsible experience that includes supervision of building renovation or construction of new facilities and capital budget preparation and administration. 
  • Previous Project Management experience in Higher Education is highly desirable
  • Ability to foster a collaborative working relationship with campus end users and proactively manage projects to meet the operational and strategic goals of the Facilities Department.
  • Strong working knowledge of construction installation practices specifically related to site work, MEP, building envelope and commissioning
  • Working knowledge of building codes is desirable
  • Experience with third party developers and land development is desirable
  • Working knowledge of project management software with in depth knowledge of Microsoft Office

The report also contains information about fire statistics in Rowan University Residential Facilities and crime statistics for the three previous calendar years concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by the University; and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from the campus. This information is required by federal law, Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act or "Clery Act" and is provided by the Rowan University Department of Public Safety.
