The Department of Writing Arts welcomes applications for a full-time (10-month) tenure-track Assistant Professor, to join the department September 1, 2019.

The successful candidate will teach and help develop courses in the graduate and undergraduate writing programs in the area of creative nonfiction and will also teach undergraduate introductory creative writing courses. They will have a record of significant publication in creative nonfiction—including memoir, literary journalism, or other creative nonfiction genres in long and short form—as well as a demonstrated excellence in teaching creative nonfiction courses. The successful candidate will also have a demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity.

This position carries an expectation that the successful candidate will seek external funding such as individual fellowships and grants. In addition, the candidate will be asked to contribute to the department and university through service including curriculum development, program development and management, and activities related to creating a community of writers.

The Department of Writing Arts is one of six departments within the College of Communication and Creative Arts. Writing Arts is a thriving department with over 400 majors, minors, and students in affiliated undergraduate and graduate programs. Our faculty pursue diverse scholarly and creative agendas and publish in national and international forums. Located in the College of Communication and Creative Arts, we are one of the few stand-alone writing departments in the nation.

Requirements:

The successful candidate will possess an M.F.A. or Ph.D. in Creative Writing or related field with significant publications in creative nonfiction. The terminal degree is required at time of appointment. Starting Date: September 2019.

The report contains information regarding campus security and personal safety including topics such as: crime prevention, public safety authority, crime reporting policies, fire safety, disciplinary procedures and other matters of importance related to security on campus. The report also contains information about fire statistics in Rowan University Residential Facilities and crime statistics for the three previous calendar years concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by the University; and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from the campus. This information is required by federal law, Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act or "Clery Act" and is provided by the Rowan University Department of Public Safety.
