Senior Systems Engineer

Are you a dedicated, adaptable, self-starter who enjoys working with and learning a wide variety of technologies? Rowan University is seeking an experienced, innovative Systems Engineer to join our growing community. In this position, you will work with a large and creative team responsible for the configuration, operation, and maintenance of the University's Enterprise mission critical Windows Domain, VMware environment, various Windows systems, and supporting services.  This includes Windows and Active Directory, hypervisor environments, enterprise storage, Citrix, McAfee security platforms, network infrastructure, and multiple core service offerings. You will be a member of the Network and System Services staff responsible for the day-to-day operation of the server and network environments, in addition to representing Network and System Services on division and institution wide projects.

General Responsibilities:

  • Enterprise systems engineer responsible for the implementation, configuration, maintenance, support, and security of the University's Windows Active Directory domain and Server environment. This includes Active Directory domain controllers, DFS, and application servers.
  • Configure group policies
  • Implementation and administration of hypervisor platforms (VMware and Citrix XenServer)
  • Maintain and service HPE server hardware (HPE BL & DL hardware platforms)
  • Participate in the Storage and Backup Administration process
  • Create and maintain system documentation, diagrams, operational procedures, architectural documentation

Required Qualifications:

  • 4-year degree or equivalent education in a related field. Professional experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.
  • At least three years of professional position related experience
  • Good working knowledge of Active Directory, Windows Server, VMware, TCP/IP, and DNS/DHCP
  • Extensive working knowledge of enterprise server hardware
  • Familiarity with standard methodologies surrounding the proper maintenance and support of a 24x7 server infrastructure
  • Awareness of security industry standards and technologies
  • Strength in solving  technical problems and offering creative solutions
  • Ability to excel when working with multi-functional teams on complex IT projects
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in an enterprise environment
  • In-depth experience with Active Directory and Windows Server operating systems
  • Working knowledge of HPE storage solutions
  • Familiarity with Linux/Unix Operating Systems
  • Familiarity with managing one or more of the following tools: VMware ESXi, NSX, vSAN and vSOM, Citrix, Fibre Channel, Infoblox, SQL Server, McAfee security and compliance platforms, and HP servers and storage.
  • Pertinent certifications, which could include Microsoft MCSE, VMware VCP/VCAP/VCDX, Citrix CCP/CCE, and/or CCNA
