Position:  Mental Health Counselor

Professional Services Specialist III, Range 21, 12 months,

Counseling and Psychological Services (CPS), Student Life Division



Under the direction of the Associate Director of Counseling and Psychological Services, the clinician hired for this position is responsible to provide the following services for Rowan University students: mental health intake evaluations; triage evaluations; individual, couples, family and group mental health psychotherapy; treatment planning; crisis evaluations and intervention; mental health case management, and referral services.  It is preferred that the clinician has familiarity and demonstrated experience and competence in several empirically-supported treatment approaches and modalities such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing.  It is also preferred that the clinician has experience with mental health case management in a college health setting and with electronic medical records in documentation of clinical services.  This clinician works with University, Student Life and Wellness Center staff across the following areas: Student Health Services (SHS), Healthy Campus Initiatives, Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Academic Success Center, Residential Learning and University Housing (RLUH), Community Standards and Commuter Services, EOF/MAP, Campus Recreation and Student Center, and community agencies to assist or lead the development and delivery of relevant programs, presentations, and events. The clinician may be responsible for services to the Glassboro, Camden and Stratford Campuses. The clinician provides services that adhere to all rules and regulations and policies and procedures that relate to provision and documentation of clinical services.

Education:  A Master’s Degree in mental healthcare field.

Experience:  At least one (1) year of clinical experience required in a mental health outpatient setting, preferably on a college counseling center environment performing crisis evaluations and counseling, intake evaluations; individual, couples, family and group psychotherapy.

Licensures/Certifications:  In the State of New Jersey:  Licensed Associate Counselor or Licensed Social Worker.

The report also contains information about fire statistics in Rowan University Residential Facilities and crime statistics for the three previous calendar years concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by the University; and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from the campus. This information is required by federal law, Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act or "Clery Act" and is provided by the Rowan University Department of Public Safety.
