Rowan University also has an urban campus in Camden, New Jersey. The College of Education as the oldest college at Rowan University has a long-held commitment to excellence in teaching, community engagement, and innovation in scholarship. The College of Education was recently recognized as having one of the best online graduate programs in the country. The College of Education is Council for Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) accredited and approved by the New Jersey Department of Education.

The Department of Interdisciplinary and Inclusive Education operates within the College of Education, which offers undergraduate programs in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, and Special Education. The department also offers the following graduate programs: Master of Arts in both special education and learning disabilities, Master of Education in Teacher Leadership, and multiple Certificates of Graduate Study (COGS). A Special Education Assessment Center, supported by the Department, provides families with further structures to assist students with special needs. Additionally, the College of Education houses and supports the Early Childhood Demonstration Center, which serves preschool-age children and provides field and clinical experiences for early childhood candidates.

The College of Education is searching for a highly qualified and experienced elementary education professional to teach courses in the elementary education program and to participate in service initiatives, particularly new program implementation and initiatives in a growing and diverse region of inclusive elementary and special education systems. The successful candidate will have a teaching philosophy guided by a commitment to diversity, social justice, cultural responsiveness, sociocultural theory and constructivism. The candidate will teach courses in the undergraduate elementary program. Expertise in areas such as assessment, mathematics, and science is highly preferred. This is a ¾ time lecturer position.

Required Qualifications:

• Master’s degree, or higher, in elementary education or a closely related field from an accredited institution of higher education at the time of appointment

• Meets state licensure requirements for elementary education (K-6)

• A minimum of 3 years of public or private successful teaching at the elementary level in diverse settings

• Strong understanding of child development and developmentally appropriate practices in elementary and inclusive education settings

• Strong understanding of various education systems such as public and private education centers, as well as public preschool and K-6 education programs

• Demonstrated ability in communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, including commitment to inclusion, social justice and equity in elementary education, and culturally responsive and differentiated instruction, as well as collaboration, collegiality, and respect for all people

• Demonstrated commitment to working with multiple stakeholders, P-12 schools, and underrepresented groups of children.

• A teaching/learning philosophy consistent with the mission of the College of Education

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with the accreditation standards of the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP)

• Experience in program development, accreditation, and leadership in elementary and inclusive or teacher education programs

• Experience with socio-constructivist and student-centered practices in teaching, such as Anti-Bias Curriculum, Project Based Learning, and Bank Street Model

• Experience with multiple forms of assessment and the evaluation of practitioners and elementary and inclusive environments such as Charlotte Danielson’s Framework for Teaching and edTPA

This information is required by federal law, Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act or "Clery Act" and is provided by the Rowan University Department of Public Safety.
