  • Campus Recreation is seeking a candidate to perform basic repairs and maintenance on various building systems, fixtures and finishes in our departmental facilities and to perform other related duties as required, including providing assistance with snow removal as necessary.
  • This position must interact effectively on a daily basis with other Campus Recreation staff, University staff, student staff, and members. The incumbent will be cross-trained and able to respond to and refer maintenance issues as required.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Performs basic repairs of equipment or appliances, including the minor repair of fixtures and fittings.
  • Reports and refers for further investigation and repair any detected facilities issues requiring follow up from any applicable trades area (i.e. carpentry, electrical, plumbing, grounds).
  • Performs assigned emergency tasks (e.g. shoveling snow).
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.


  • Previous experience in work involving the inspection, repair and general maintenance of household, office, and other equipment, fixtures, fittings, appliances, machinery, furnishings, and buildings.
  • Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing, and/or HVAC systems.


  • Appointees will be required to possess a driver’s license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform essential duties of the position.


  • Good communication skills.
  • Well-organized and possesses strong problem-solving ability.

  • Ability to work under minimal supervision and to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks, under pressure of deadlines.
  • Ability to work with and as part of a team.
  • Ability to appropriately prioritize work and to communicate progress to supervisor on assigned projects.
  • Working knowledge of safety standards and procedures.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work at heights including using a high lift.
  • Ability to use a variety of common tools, machines, equipment, and materials.
  • If assigned, ability to operate a motor vehicle.
  • Ability to perform moderate manual labor.
  • Competency at basic building repairs and maintenance.
  • Ability to use small industrial/electrical/mechanical equipment.
  • Ability to read University correspondence, training materials, policies and procedures with comprehension sufficient to act appropriately based on the written materials.


  • This temporary, part-time position is assigned up to twenty-five (25) hours per week and is not to exceed 944 hours per fiscal year. Work is contracted annually to coincide with the fiscal year and is contingent upon budget appropriations.
  • Work hours are typically Monday through Friday, 8:00am-1:00pm. However, work hours may change based on the operational needs of the department. 

Pay Rate:

  • $15/hour

The report contains information regarding campus security and personal safety including topics such as: crime prevention, public safety authority, crime reporting policies, fire safety, disciplinary procedures and other matters of importance related to security on campus. The report also contains information about fire statistics in Rowan University Residential Facilities and crime statistics for the three previous calendar years concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by the University; and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from the campus. This information is required by federal law, Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act or "Clery Act" and is provided by the Rowan University Department of Public Safety.
