Summary:  

The Director of Executive Education reports to the Assistant Vice President, Academic Affairs, in the Division of Global Learning and Partnerships (Rowan Global) at the main campus. Under the direction of the Assistant Vice President, the Director of Executive Education is responsible for the strategic direction and execution of the Rowan Global Solutions unit, which primarily deals with non-credit offerings and customizable training opportunities for industry partners.

About the Division of Global Learning and Partnerships:

Rowan Global is the University's vehicle to reach out and serve the needs of college students, working adults, lifelong learners, and the business community. Students enrolled in our academic programs include college graduates pursuing masters or doctoral programs and returning college students pursuing the completion of a baccalaureate degree or certification. Rowan Global Solutions, a unit within Rowan Global provides a large portfolio of non-credit services and products, including continuing education units, customizable solutions for industry, business, nonprofit organizations, and other key external constituencies.

Position Description:

The Director will be required to work successfully with internal and external stakeholders to build the non-credit and continuing education portfolio; develop and maintain strong business partner relationships; use competitive intelligence strategies to identify, develop, and maintain a portfolio of non-credit offerings aligned with market demand; oversee the financial and operational accountability for the self-supporting unit; prioritize multiple projects and initiatives; facilitate the growth of the unit; collaborate with external subject matter experts and faculty for client solutions; and maintain currency in the field.

Essential Position Responsibilities/Functions:

Under the direction of the Assistant Vice President, Academic Affairs in the Division of Global Learning and Partnerships, the Director of Executive Education is responsible to accomplish the following:

  • Designs pragmatic and impactful non-credit products to address key organizational development needs from corporations and non-profit organizations.
  • Seek, cultivate and develop new accounts/business.
  • Conduct research and analysis to help identify new business opportunities.
  • Develops opportunities for cross-campus collaboration with faculty and staff to identify and promote unique non-credit and continuing education programs.
  • Responsible for the revenue growth of the non-credit portfolio.
  • Effectively draft contracts and/or legal agreements.
  • Manages the Rowan Global Solutions budget.
  • Develops an annual calendar of Executive Education events and programs.
  • Creates and maintains the content on the Executive Education web page.
  • Maintains currency in the field through research and participation in regional, state and national professional development activities and memberships
  • Extensive travel within the tri-state/regional area.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

 Required Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree from an accredited college or university. Preferred disciplines include Business, Administration, Leadership, Professional Development, Organizational Development, Human Resources, Personnel Management, Public Administration, Organizational Management or related field.
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of progressive professional development experience.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset that inspires both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work without supervision.
  • Record-keeping and report preparation techniques.
  • Budget preparation and control.
  • Ability to draft contracts/legal agreements.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and complete various projects within designated deadlines.
  • Exemplary attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to clearly convey information in person and through electronic communications.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, use of tact, patience and courtesy.
  • Experience in utilizing Microsoft Applications and electronic reporting processes.
  • Ability to travel to meet with clients regionally.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends when needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least fifteen (15) years of managerial/supervisory experience.
  • History of business development, consultative selling, client relationship development, and leading strategic growth initiatives related to corporate and executive education.
  • Aptitude for and proven experience in prospecting and securing new clients via cold calling, advertising, networking, and other means.
  • Experience in setting and achieving targets for sales and for leveraging existing client relationships.
  • Experience in program/curriculum and instructional design to meet organizational objectives and desired learning outcomes.
  • Experience in teaching undergraduate and graduate credit based programs for an accredited institution.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written; ability to communicate ideas to senior-level and executive audiences in public and private forums.
  • Strong business, financial, strategic, and organizational development acumen.
  • Quantitative and budget management skills.
  • Strong understanding of executive/adult education best practices and current trends.
  • Experience in virtual-based instructional design and delivery.
  • Ability to grow and develop internal teams and stakeholders who can thrive in delivering non-credit programs.
