  • The Early Childhood Demonstration Center is a quality early learning facility for children ages 2.5-6, located in Rowan University’s College of Education. The Part-Time Preschool Teacher is responsible for the coordination and implementation of preschool curriculum for children ages 2.5-6, with the average ages being 3 & 4, in a mixed age group setting. The Part-Time Preschool teacher will have knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practices for young children, as well as knowledge of all State guidelines for childcare centers.


  • Prepares and implements lesson plans on a weekly basis using integrated units of study which supports state and national standards for early childhood education
  • Creates a classroom environment which supports a constructivist approach to early childhood education
  • Possesses willingness and flexibility to learn and implement new approaches in the classroom
  • Maintains a classroom environment free of bias which values diversity, inclusion, tolerance, and acceptance
  • Makes daily observations and records anecdotal records
  • Maintains child folios to document child progress
  • Attends professional development, staff meetings, parent involvement activities and parent conferences
  • Works with teacher candidates and university faculty
  • Promotes positive behaviors among children utilizing proactive and positive approaches to classroom management
  • Implements and ensures program quality
  • Collects and records daily attendance and/or other records pertaining to the classroom and children
  • Maintains a professional atmosphere in the classroom and throughout the school community
  • Works cooperatively with instructional support staff
  • Assists the Center and Director in implementing standards of GROW NJ KIDS and other national associations in early childhood education standards
  • Performs other related duties as required


  • NJ Teaching Certificate Preschool through grade 3 preferred; Elementary Ed. and CDA considered.
  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is required; a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood or Elementary Education is preferred.
  • One (1) year of teaching experience in a school, preschool or daycare for young children.
  • Experience with the Project Approach, Bankstreet Approach and/or Reggio Emilia.


  • This temporary, part-time position is assigned up to twenty-five (25) hours per week and is not to exceed 944 hours per fiscal year. Work is contracted annually to coincide with the fiscal year and is contingent upon budget appropriations.
  • This position is not benefits-eligible. 
  • The successful candidate must possess the ability to work between at least 8:30am-1:30pm, with some flexibility for occasional or as-needed additional time.  

Pay Rate:

  • Commensurate with experience. 


  • This position is not open to current Rowan University students.

The report contains information regarding campus security and personal safety including topics such as: crime prevention, public safety authority, crime reporting policies, fire safety, disciplinary procedures and other matters of importance related to security on campus. The report also contains information about fire statistics in Rowan University Residential Facilities and crime statistics for the three previous calendar years concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by the University; and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from the campus. This information is required by federal law, Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act or "Clery Act" and is provided by the Rowan University Department of Public Safety.
