SUMMARY:

Performs analysis, design, programming, testing, debugging, and document program resolution for medium to high complexity clinical system problems. Applies conversions and enhancements to clinical and patient information systems. Participates in the development of detailed programming/system specifications, including, but not limited to, policies and procedures. Collaborates with users and other IRT departments with an emphasis on doctors, nurses and front end staff to identify system problems and proposes solutions. Develops project plans and training programs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Responsible for the selection, development, implementation, testing, documentation, maintenance and utilization of application software to effectively support the SOM Clinical and Patient Information systems needs.
  • Performs clinical and administrative workflow analysis, interpretation, and synthesis of information.
  • Develops and/or conducts training programs as required.
  •  Develops and manages project plans using PMI Project Methodology or the methodology used by the university.
  • Interacts with users and other related areas to define data and compile data.
  • Designs and develops application program from analysis to implementation.
  • Develops documentation, formulates and applies policies and procedures.
  • Understands, follows and remains current with industry technology trends.
  • Assists in or manages the installation of software and/or hardware components.
  • Performs technical resources planning and support.
  • Maintains familiarity with all clinical and administrative subsystems.
  • Acts as liaison between IRT and end user communities.
  • Develops and applies integrated application, system, and network standards as required.
  • Works with the latest healthcare technology solutions and uses experience to lead major change in multi-platform environments.
  • Manages daily problems, with determining resolutions.
  • Understands reporting requirements and needs with the ability to complete requests.
  • Evaluates and recommends hardware and software solutions.
  • Performs system tuning, monitoring, and trend analysis.
  • Understands and adheres to Rowan's compliance standards as they appear in Rowan's Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.
  • Keeps abreast of all federal and state regulations, laws and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, or Math plus a minimum of five (5) years related experience in information services in a technical or analytical/design capacity, Understanding of programming tools, methodologies and concepts is preferred. IDX experience is preferred, with an emphasis in billing/accounts receivable and the Transaction Editing System (TBS) module. Excellent oral and written communications skills, interpersonal skills and capable of functioning in a team environment are required. On-call is required as part of customer support responsibilities for the practice management system.
