This information is required by federal law, Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act or "Clery Act" and is provided by the Rowan University Department of Public Safety.

Associate Provost, Library Information Services

 

Rowan University (RU) seeks an inspiring leader, bold and inclusive visionary, and community builder to reimagine, transform and position Rowan University Libraries as 21st century libraries.  The Associate Provost, Library Information Services is responsible for the administration and coordination of all activities related to library services, including those related to physical and virtual environments, collection development, budgeting, staffing, fundraising, partnerships and emerging information technology adoption. The new Associate Provost, Library Information Services will envision future libraries--both as physical and virtual spaces--to support RU’s mission and aspirations, raise the visibility of the Libraries, advocate for library needs, fundraise, and further develop the Libraries’ senior leadership team.

The Associate Provost, Library and Information Services will ensure that RU Libraries promote innovation, teaching and learning excellence, research, creative work and scholarship. The position requires a leader who embraces the important role of RU Libraries in these critical tasks. Core to the position is relationship building and engaging stakeholders across RU campuses, as well as at the local, regional, national and international levels. This position will serve as an external champion and advocate for the Libraries, serving also as a mentor and coach of a talented team, supports the Provost and university leadership, and is responsible for revenue generation, administrative and budgetary oversight.

The successful candidate will be a good communicator with strong interpersonal skills.  RU is looking for an Associate Provost, Library Information Services who is an initiator of change and who can drive system-wide strategies for growth. 

Required:

  • A master’s degree in library, archival, or information science from a program accredited by the American Library Association or archival or foreign equivalent. An additional PhD in an academic discipline is desirable.
  • Demonstrated success in leadership and administration of an academic library, with seven years of progressive administrative experience
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills with a track record in representing a library to internal and external constituents. Ability to build partnerships within and outside the university
  • Ability to engage and build strong support for Libraries’ strategic vision
  • Experience in organizations with collective bargaining and tenure requirements for librarians
  • Demonstrated strong leadership qualities and solid management skills
  • Understanding of national higher education and academic library trends 
  • Experience with budgets
  • Demonstrated track record of professional, scholarly and service activity
  • Ability to support and promote multiple projects simultaneously
  • Demonstrated fundraising experience
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion


The Libraries comprise a main campus in Glassboro, an allopathic medical school library in Camden, and an osteopathic medical school campus located in Stratford.  The Glassboro Campus features 10 Colleges and Schools with a growing emphasis on scholarship, creative work and research. The allopathic Cooper Medical School of Rowan University (CMSRU) Library supports patient care of a 635 bed, Level 1 Trauma Center; education programs at the medical school and in 17 residencies and fellowships; and research initiatives at both institutions. The Rowan School of Osteopathic Medicine (RowanSOM) supports education, research and more than 40 residencies fellowships and internships. The Associate Provost, reporting to the Provost, serves as the strategic leader for the Libraries on all three campuses. 

Direct reports to this position are the four members of the Libraries Leadership Team consisting of the Directors for the two Medical campuses, the Director of Collections and User Services and the Director of Research Engagement and Scholarship on the Glassboro campus; the University Archivist;  the Technology Services Librarian; as well as an administrative assistant.

The School of Osteopathic Medicine has a faculty practice plan that serves approximately 200,000 patients throughout Southern New Jersey. Rowan College of Engineering, the William G.
