The report also contains information about fire statistics in Rowan University Residential Facilities and crime statistics for the three previous calendar years concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by the University; and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from the campus. This information is required by federal law, Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act or "Clery Act" and is provided by the Rowan University Department of Public Safety.

Rowan University is subject to the residency requirements of the NJ First Act (N.J.S.A. 52:14-7, P.L. 2011, Chapter 70). Any person hired to a non-exempt position shall either have their principal residence in New Jersey or have one (1) year from the date of employment to establish, and then maintain, principal residence in the State of New Jersey. Any person hired to an exempt position shall either have their principal residence in New Jersey, Delaware, Pennsylvania, or New York or have ninety (90) days from the date of employment to establish, then maintain, principal residence in the State of New Jersey, Delaware, Pennsylvania, or New York.

Staffing Specialist (Part-Time Hourly)

  • Reporting to the Director of Talent Acquisition and the SOM Human Resources Manager, the Staffing Specialist assists in the administration of the recruitment and onboarding processes for the assigned area. Using the PageUp applicant tracking system, this position will post positions, update candidate and job statuses as needed, assist candidates through the recruitment process, and help new hires navigate onboarding requirements. This position will also perform miscellaneous general Human Resources support tasks as needed.


  • Review job description to determine appropriate job classification and compensation level when a requisition is received. Also determine that education and experience requirements are appropriate.
  • Post university vacancies.
  • Counsel hiring managers and search committee members on the recruitment process.
  • Place advertisements for job openings, strategize with hiring managers and various stakeholders for diverse candidate pools.
  • Update and maintain the applicant tracking system.
  • Provide information regarding immigration issues for applicants.
  • Provide ongoing training and support to applicants, hiring managers, and search committee members on the applicant tracking system.
  • When candidates are selected, assure that proper process is followed regarding salary, offers, appointments, etc.
  • Process contracts and paperwork for new hires.
  • Perform other related other duties as assigned.

Education Requirement: 

  • Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor's degree, preferably in Business Administration, Human Resources or a related field

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional-level work experience in Human Resources in a specialist or generalist role.
  • Knowledge of recruiting processes including sourcing, interviewing and selection of candidates
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to handle confidential material/issues
  • Experience working in higher education
  • Experience in civil service administration, as it relates to recruitment
  • Familiarity with civil service administration and/or unionized environments
  • Experience using applicant tracking systems
  • Experience with immigration issues


  • Only completed, online applications submitted on or before the deadline will be considered. 
  • This is a part-time, temporary position for up to twenty (20) hours per week and is not to exceed 944 hours per fiscal year (July 1 – June 30). 
  • At this time, this position is approved through December 31, 2021. However, the exact duration of the temporary assignment is subject to change, as it is contingent upon budget appropriations.
  • This position will primarily be stationed at Rowan’s SOM campus but will be assigned work that will support both the SOM and main campuses.

Pay Rate:

  • Commensurate with experience
