Job Title:           Analyst II - Data Application Analyst

Department:     Academic Affairs - Assessment Unit

Facility:             School of Osteopathic Medicine

Reports to:        Manager, Data Systems, Analytics and Applications


Provide direct technical support and training of Rowan SOM’s curriculum management software (One45) to faculty, staff and students. Assist with the design, development and implementation of technical solutions for data management systems in support of academic and assessment functions for the entire medical school.  Assists in administration of Assessment SQL data warehouse, custom ASP.NET web applications, and Tableau dashboards.


Serve as technical support for third party curriculum management system (One45) and work collaboratively with Manager, Academic Applications and Data Analytics, Academic Technology, IRT and vendor in identification and resolution of identified system problems and solutions.

Provide end-user support to course and clerkship coordinators and academic staff in their use of One45 to produce student schedules, manage gradebooks, create evaluations, and report patient logs and evaluation data.

Work collaboratively with course and clerkship coordinators and academic staff to create and operationalize new/modified processes in One45 and other reporting processes to support the delivery of medical education.

Assist with management of user access & permissions, system configurations, student and faculty enrollment, course schedules, grade book structure, evaluation set-up and workflows within One45.

Assist with administration of Assessment data warehouse, and have the ability to produce reports (including Excel reports with formulas, charts and pivot tables) and respond to administrative data requests.

Maintain existing & create new RowanSOM Metrics dashboards through business intelligence software (Tableau).

Deploy bug-fixes and feature enhancements for internal ASP.NET web applications for the medical school.

Prepare data uploads, support data entry and ensure accuracy of data.

Generate routine and ad-hoc reports from various systems including: One45, Cognos (Banner), ExamSoft, Learning Space, WebAdmit, and national reporting sources.

Serve on various academic and administrative committees.

Support the Student Evaluation of Performance (STEP) Committee in downloading and maintaining student datasets, collaborating with team members for discussing internal policies and interpreting data, and facilitating the use of technology for presentations in committee meetings.

Assemble and maintain well-written documentation for How-To guides of routine job duties, technical training guides, standard operating procedures and academic policies.

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related IT field of study, or an equivalent combination of education, training and professional experience required.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in database management, including relational databases in a production environment (including setup, data entry, analysis, and reporting) required.
  • Experience in higher education a plus.
  • Knowledge of relational databases and web-programming languages required. Programming experience in ASP.NET and SQL a plus.
  • Knowledge of using pivot tables, charts and formulas in Excel required.
  • Good communication skills (written, oral and presentation), good interpersonal skills, and the ability to communicate effectively on technical issues with non-technical personnel.
  • Experience with Business Intelligence Software preferred.

This position takes place on-campus at RowanSOM, in Stratford, NJ.  Please note:  This position will occasionally require travel from the RowanSOM campus in Stratford, NJ to the RowanSOM alternate site in Sewell and/or Rowan main campus in Glassboro.  Candidates must have a valid driver’s license and means of transportation to meet travel requirements.
