Job Title: Assistant Dean, School of Professional Studies (SPS)

Reports to: Vice President for Global Affairs and Dean of the School of Professional Studies (SPS)

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Vice President for Global Affairs and Dean of the School of Professional Studies (SPS), the Assistant Dean of SPS supports SPS functions along with 3+1 and 2+2 articulation agreements and partnerships with the University’s partner colleges. The Assistant Dean is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of SPS, including logistical operations, curriculum design and delivery, course implementation, advising support, and approval of new programs, overseeing the launch of 3+1 and 2+2 partnership program agreements, and participating in university-wide initiatives.

 

General Responsibilities:

 

  • Support academic and administrative efforts related to SPS, including but not limited to, program development and delivery, program marketing and promotion, communications, course implementation, enrollment monitoring, and advising resources.
  • Draft, vet, finalize, and implement the school’s strategic plan in collaboration with the SPS Dean, advisors and program specialists. 
  • Manage the workloads of Academic Advisors and Program Specialists for SPS to ensure students’ needs are met for successful admission, matriculation, registration, course completion, and graduation.
  • Support advisors in the coordination of student-related services, including but not limited to orientation, internships, student events, graduation, and career advising.
  • Ensure accuracy and maintenance of academic and advising materials for all SPS programs.
  • Work directly with the Provost Office, college deans, faculty, staff, and external partners as directed by the Dean to establish and manage productive relationships to support the development of new, innovative in-person master’s and professional degree programs for SPS.
  • Review new SPS, professional, and master’s programs and prepare them for Dean’s approval, advertising and promotion.
  • Provide support in conducting program assessments and data collection to determine student and programmatic need for future SPS programs.
  • Collaborate with faculty and program coordinators on program refinement, maintenance, and monitoring of current SPS programs for any academic updates.
  • Collaborate with Rowan College partners, Rowan College of South Jersey and Rowan College of Burlington County, and community colleges regionally and nationally, to create and maintain new 2+2 and 3+1 partnership programs and agreements.
  • Organize efforts in concert with college deans and leadership to generate ideas and potential programs for new 3+1 and 2+2 agreements.
  • Oversee and provide directions on the drafting, tracking, monitoring, signing, and executing of community college agreements, as well as ensuring accuracy of reporting to leadership on enrollments related to partnership agreements.
  • Serve on University-wide committees and working groups as necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean. 

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Master degree required, doctorate preferred in higher education (Ed.D. or Ph.D.) or closely related field. History of teaching and academic publications preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in higher education, specifically related to academic areas, such as advising, teaching, curriculum development, and program development
  • 3+ years of experience in supervising staff, conducting staff evaluations, and leading teams in a cross-functional environment
  • 3+ experience with facilitating, building, and maintaining relationships across large scale organizations and external partners.
  • Understanding labor market need and work force trends that drive higher education program offerings.
  • Ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions.
  • Knowledge of distance and online learning national and global trends
  • Experience with curriculum and academic platforms, such as OnBase and Banner
  • Experience in working and collaborating with cross-functional teams, specifically in the academic arena
  • Strong writing and communication skills. Experience with working with MOUs and agreements preferred.
