The Department of Mathematics at Rowan University invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure-track Assistant Teaching Professor position, with an appointment beginning September 1, 2026.

The department seeks candidates who are deeply committed to excellence in teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The successful candidate will teach a range of undergraduate and graduate mathematics courses. In addition to teaching, candidates are expected to make meaningful and substantive service contributions to the department and to undergraduate and graduate programs. Teaching Professors are also expected to engage in ongoing professional development to remain current in their disciplinary expertise and in evidence-based instructional practices.

The Department of Mathematics is one of six departments in the College of Science & Mathematics, which also includes the School of Earth & Environment. The department is a dynamic and growing unit offering B.A., B.S., and M.A. degrees in Mathematics, as well as B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Data Science (the latter jointly with the Department of Computer Science). The department contributes to numerous degree programs across the university and serves approximately 6,000 students annually. Faculty maintain active, externally funded research programs, cultivate strong industry partnerships, and collaborate across disciplines. The department is committed to sustaining a vibrant academic culture while delivering transformative educational experiences for students.

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Mathematics or a closely related discipline with a conferral date no later than July 1, 2026. Teaching Professor positions are 10-month, full-time, non-tenure-track appointments. Successful candidates will teach 24 credits over two semesters, with an option to teach overload and summer classes for additional compensation. Teaching Professor positions are renewable based on performance reviews and programmatic needs.

SALARY

In compliance with The State of New Jersey's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is: 

  • Assistant Teaching Professor: Ranges 21, 24

Residency Requirements

Rowan University is subject to the residency requirements of the NJ First Act (N.J.S.A. 52:14-7, P.L. 2011, Chapter 70). Any person hired to a non-exempt position shall either have their principal residence in New Jersey or have one (1) year from the date of employment to establish, and then maintain, principal residence in the State of New Jersey. Any person hired to an exempt position shall either have their principal residence in New Jersey, Delaware, Pennsylvania, or New York or have ninety (90) days from the date of employment to establish, then maintain, principal residence in the State of New Jersey, Delaware, Pennsylvania, or New York.

Note on STEM-OPT Employment
Please note that STEM OPT employment is not permitted at Rowan University. To be eligible for a STEM OPT extension, the student's employer must be registered in E-Verify and must use the system to verify all new employees. While Rowan University is registered in the E-Verify system, the University does not use the system to verify all new employees, only those that are working on a Federal Contract. This means that Rowan does not permit individuals to work at the University using a STEM OPT Employment Authorization Document as proof of US Work Authorization.

The report contains information regarding campus security and personal safety including topics such as crime prevention, RUPD authority/jurisdiction, crime reporting policies, fire safety, disciplinary procedures and other matters of importance related to security on all our campuses. The report also contains information about fire statistics in Rowan University on-campus student housing facilities and crime statistics for the three previous calendar years, including reported crimes that occurred on-campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by the University; and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from the campus. This information is required by federal law, Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act or the "Clery Act" and is provided by the Rowan University Police Department.
