Work type: Regular Full-Time of Part-Time

Location: Glassboro, New Jersey

Categories: School of Veterinary Medicine

Position Summary:

This role is ideally suited for an innovative and collaborative internist who is excited by the opportunity to develop a high-quality, referral-based internal medicine service that reflects best practices and the evolving needs of the surrounding veterinary referral community. The initial emphasis of the position will be on service development, caseload growth, and relationship-building with regional referring veterinarians, as well as close collaboration with specialty and primary care services.

As the service matures, the role will evolve into a clinical teaching position, incorporating didactic instruction, clinical mentorship, and active participation in the veterinary curriculum, with a strong emphasis on diagnostic excellence, longitudinal case management, and interdisciplinary care.

Key Opportunities

  • Develop and lead an internal medicine service within a brand-new, purpose-built teaching hospital
  • Collaborate closely with hospital leadership and clinical services to design innovative workflows, diagnostic pathways, and service models
  • Engage with a supportive and expanding regional referral network to tailor services to community needs
  • Support complex case management through close collaboration with surgery, anesthesia, diagnostic imaging, pathology, and primary care
  • Gradually transition into clinical teaching and didactic responsibilities aligned with the School’s educational mission
  • Play a key role in shaping the culture, standards, and long-term vision of a new veterinary medical program

Why Join SSVM

The Shreiber School of Veterinary Medicine offers a rare opportunity to join a modern academic institution at a formative stage, where faculty have meaningful influence over clinical services, educational delivery, and hospital culture. Required Qualifications:

  • Board certification in Veterinary Internal Medicine (DACVIM or equivalent)
  • Demonstrated interest in clinical excellence and service development
  • Strong communication skills and enthusiasm for collaboration with referring veterinarians and interdisciplinary teams
