Associate Dean for Academic and Faculty Affairs
The Rowan University School of Veterinary Medicine is seeking an administrative leader for the position of Associate Dean for Academic and Faculty Affairs. The selected candidate will lead the continued development of a fully integrated, pass/fail, spiral curriculum aligned with the competency based education framework while providing support for college graduate programs. The program is focused on early, robust exposure to clinical and professional skills and preparing students to confidently enter the workforce at graduation. The Associate Dean will assist in the recruitment, educational development and retention of talented faculty dedicated to preparing confident graduates. The selected candidate will play a critical role in participation in the School’s accreditation process and should have demonstrated expertise in outcomes assessment.
The Associate Dean works closely with the Dean, other Associate/Assistant deans, Directors, Department Heads, central university administration, and human resources on a range of faculty affairs issues, including promotion and tenure, work-life balance policies, annual evaluations and merit, and compliance with the Faculty Handbook and other university requirements.
Essential Role and Position Responsibilities:
· Create mechanisms and programs for faculty educational development in partnership with the Department Heads and other related committees/groups at Rowan University
· Coordinate faculty recommendations for new hires, merit programs and other recognition and reward programs to ensure equity and parity across scientific and clinical disciplines
· Coordinate faculty leaves (including parental leaves, etc.) including retirement planning in coordination with the department chairs
· Work in close partnership with the other Associate Deans, Department Chairs, and Directors to implement process improvements, planning and program decisions
· Leads Committee on Curriculum, Committee on Appointments and Promotions.
· Serves as contact person for related search committee policies and processes.
· Lead and guide administrative team (especially Department Heads and Directors) on implementation of faculty driven curricular decisions
· Serves as the Dean’s proxy to represent the SVM on academic matters, upon request.
Qualifications for the position include:
· DVM or equivalent degree (required)
· MS or PhD in a related field (preferred)
· Experience in higher education administration, academic program management, and faculty affairs
· An established record of excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service appropriate for appointment to the rank of Full Professor with tenure
· Interest in working in a dynamic budding veterinary program with the flexibility to adapt to new and innovative methods of delivery of veterinary education
· Ability to mentor junior faculty, and collaborate with mid-career and senior faculty
· Experience with promotion and tenure and faculty career progression
· Evidence of interdisciplinary, collaborative leadership and partnerships with external agencies
· Outstanding leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
· Experience with strategic planning and an understanding of faculty needs with a view toward enhancing pedagogy, growth and clinical collaboration
· Experience in policy development and implementation
· An understanding of the intersection of teaching, research, outreach, and patient care
· Proven commitment to and knowledge of shared governance
· Ability to lead teams, communicate with multiple and diverse audiences and individuals, and complete tasks in a complex organizational environment
· Ability to inspire others to high levels of performance and foster collaboration and trust
Salary Range:
In compliance with the State of New Jersey's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $170,000 to $260,000. When extending any salary offer, Rowan University considers many factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, work experience, education, training, key skills, internal equity, as well as market and other organizational considerations.

The Shreiber School of Veterinary Medicine is located on the Glassboro, New Jersey west campus, 22 miles southeast of Philadelphia. The Shreiber School of Veterinary Medicine's first class of DVM students were admitted in September 2025. Facilities include a 167,000 square foot building that is shared as an academic teaching facility aimed at the delivery of pre-clinical training, a small animal teaching hospital, and a research facility.
