For Programs: BS in Healthcare Management and Administration and MS in Healthcare Management (HCM) Positions

Position Description:

Rowan University is seeking skilled adjunct instructors and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to join our team to deliver both in-person and online courses for the BS in Healthcare Management and Administration (BS in HCM) (in-person and online modes of delivery) and the MS in Healthcare Management programs (MS in HCM) (fully online). These roles provide a unique opportunity to engage students across various formats, enhancing their educational journey with dynamic and engaging content.

Both programs will accept applications year-round to maintain an ongoing pool of candidates. Instructors for both modes of delivery in the BS in HCM program will support first-year students, transfer students, and 3+1 students. 

 

When a teaching vacancy arises, we will consider the submitted applications in an effort to staff courses such as: Introduction to Healthcare Management, Healthcare Informatics, Healthcare Marketing, Healthcare Law and Ethics, Research Methods, Healthcare Delivery and Quality, Healthcare Finance and Decision Making, Strategic Management in Health Care, Healthcare Operations Management, Healthcare Organization Leadership, AI in Healthcare Management, Risk Management in Healthcare, and related courses.

 

In-Person Instructors:
Our in-person instructors will have the opportunity to deliver lectures, facilitate discussions, and provide hands-on guidance, creating an inspiring and interactive learning environment that complements our online offerings. You'll be instrumental in students' growth by bringing healthcare management concepts to life through dynamic in-class interactions. 

Online Instructors:
As an online instructor teaching asynchronously, you will play an essential role in offering a rich online learning experience. You will work closely with the School of Professional Studies, as well as the Rowan Online Advising and Operations teams, ensuring a successful learning experience for our students.

 

Subject Matter Experts (SMEs): 

Occasionally, adjuncts may be hired as Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to collaborate with instructional designers in developing master course shells, translating current practices and trends into engaging, high-quality online course content. 

 

Applications will be accepted year-round. When a teaching vacancy arises, we will review the submitted applications to staff the courses.

 

Note: Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the US, and the university will not sponsor an applicant for a work visa for this position. Candidates must reside in the US. 



Qualifications:

  • Candidates must possess at least a Master’s Degree in Healthcare Management, Business Management, or a related Public Health Management degree, as well as clinical experience. 

  • Strong skills in the areas of critical thinking, emotional intelligence, leadership, diversity, and inclusion.

  • Strong communication skills, ensuring that course objectives, expectations, and feedback are clearly provided to support student success.

  • Preference for applicants with teaching experience at the collegiate level.

  • A doctoral-level degree in a relevant field, such as healthcare administration or management, is preferred for the MS in HCM program. 

Additional for online instructors and Subject Matter Experts

  • Strong technical skills, including proficiency with a learning management system (LMS), video conferencing platforms, and collaboration tools.

  • A strong record of excellence in asynchronous instruction and facilitating digital learning environments. 

  • Familiarity with Canvas LMS is preferred.

  • A doctoral-level degree in a relevant field, such as healthcare administration or management, is preferred to be a SME for the MS in HCM program. 

 

Expectations:

  • Comply with mandated policies and regulations; adhere to all university-wide policies.

  • Engage actively with students, offering timely support, expert knowledge, and virtual office hours where applicable. Recognize and accommodate diverse learning needs, including offering flexible evening and weekend availability.

  • Participate in retention initiatives and assist students with academic, attendance, and behavioral matters.

  • Provide timely feedback and guidance on course assignments, assessments, and grades.

  • Submit final grades within five business days as per university policy.

  • Exhibit a positive, accepting learning environment, supporting a diverse group of students.

  • Maintain current knowledge in your field and complete all necessary training, orientation, and administrative tasks.

In-person applicants are subject to the residency requirements of the NJ First Act (N.J.S.A. 52:14-7, P.L. 2011, Chapter 70). Any person hired to a non-exempt position shall either have their principal residence in New Jersey or have one (1) year from the date of employment to establish, and then maintain, principal residence in the State of New Jersey. Any person hired to an exempt position shall either have their principal residence in New Jersey, Delaware, Pennsylvania, or New York or have ninety (90) days from the date of employment to establish, then maintain, principal residence in the State of New Jersey, Delaware, Pennsylvania, or New York.

  • Teaching philosophy statement (1-2 pages long)

  • Unofficial transcripts for all listed degrees. Please note that successful candidates will be asked to submit official transcripts. Therefore, submitting an official transcript at the time of application, if available, will expedite the hiring process. Transcripts issued to the applicant are acceptable.

Salary and Benefits: 

In compliance with The State of New Jersey's Pay Transparency Act, and in accordance with the current MOA, Rowan University adjuncts are provided with a minimum of $2,225 (after 9/1/2026) per credit for all courses taught, with a maximum teaching load of 8 credits per semester and 12 credits in an academic year. Courses will be assigned to instructors by College & Department on an as-needed basis.
