Position: Full-time Lecturer in the Department of Art, College of Communication & Creative Arts, Rowan University.
Description: The Department of Art welcomes applications for a non-tenure track Lecturer in Sculpture and 3-D Foundations to join the department September 1, 2020. This is a 10-month position teaching all levels of undergraduate sculpture courses from beginning to intermediate and advanced students, including traditional processes of working in wood, metal, plaster and mixed media, within the context of contemporary theory and practice to teaching three-dimensional design through digital processes. Additional responsibilities include studio maintenance, managing supplies and budgets within the studio area, supporting adjunct faculty in the area, participation in curriculum and assessment activities, and general collaborative contributions to the department and university relative to teaching responsibilities. The candidate should have a demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity.
The appointment is renewable and offers the opportunity for promotion to senior and master lecturer. The successful applicant will teach a 12-credit teaching load of 3 studios in Fall and Spring semesters. Overloads during the academic year and teaching in winter and summer sessions may be available. Candidates must be available to work five days per week.
The Department of Art is one of six departments in the College of Communication & Creative Arts that includes Communication Studies, Journalism, Public Relations & Advertising, Radio, Television & Film, and Writing Arts. CCCA’s goal is to empower people to be storytellers, artists, critical thinkers, and engaged citizens. The college serves nearly 1900 majors through ten B.A.s, two B.F.A.s, and two M.A.s. The college is seeing unprecedented growth, having hired 40% of its full-time faculty over the past two years as well as nearly doubling the number of entering freshmen. Additionally, we house first-year writing and public speaking, which serve all Rowan students.

Requirements: The successful candidate must have an MFA or equivalent in sculpture or related Fine Arts discipline with at least 3 years of experience teaching at the collegiate level (beyond the assistantship level). Candidate will demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively with students and curriculum of a sculpture program as well as knowledge of various materials, production methods, and tools. The terminal degree is required at the time of appointment.
