This position is dedicated to serving both the Shreiber School of Veterinary Medicine of Rowan University and the wider NJ communities through the provision of high quality, high volume spay/neuter (HQHVSN) services, community engagement and outreach through our mobile HQHVSN clinic, and the instruction of both veterinary and veterinary technician students.
The role includes both clinical service and teaching responsibilities in HQHVSN, low-cost community outreach practice, and the SSVM shelter medicine program. The shelter veterinarian will provide and manage comprehensive care to patients from both the area shelter populations and privately-owned animals and uphold high medical standards of care to ensure a safe, healthy environment for patients and the people who interact with them.
The shelter veterinarian must have demonstrated expertise in the medical and surgical management of shelter animals and patients through the low-cost public outreach mobile and stationary clinics. Members of the service are responsible for providing veterinary oversight for the shelter medicine program and both didactic and clinical teaching responsibilities for veterinary technician students and veterinary students will be an integral part of this role as the program grows. This is a clinical-track (non-tenure) faculty position at the Instructor, Assistant, or Associate Clinical Professor level, commensurate with the experience of the applicant.
This role directly reports to the Section Head of the Shelter Medicine and Community Engagement service. This position is a full-time, in-person/non-remote role that will have variable work locations due to the nature of mobile veterinary practice. |

An immediate opening is available to conduct NIH-supported research in cardiovascular biology within Santhanam’s laboratory. The primary focus of the laboratory is to investigate the role of mitochondrial ion signaling in cardiac physiology and cardiovascular diseases (CVD). The laboratory utilizes mouse CVD models in conjunction with tissue culture platforms. The selected candidate will be responsible for developing research projects that involve both in vivo and in vitro animal models of CVD. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to employ advanced molecular and cellular biology and imaging techniques. Key responsibilities include hypothesis development, study design, execution of studies, data analysis, manuscript preparation, and grant writing.
