Position Summary:

The Motion Graphics Designer is responsible for creating dynamic and engaging motion graphics content that enhances Rowan University's marketing and communication efforts. The Motion Graphics Designer will work closely with the digital marketing, content, and creative teams to produce video animations, promotional videos, and other visual content that aligns with the University's brand and strategic goals. This position requires a strong creative vision, technical expertise, and the ability to translate complex ideas into visually compelling narratives that resonate with target audiences. Reporting to the Associate Director of Marketing Planning & Management, the Motion Graphics Designer will work closely with other members of the university marketing and communications teams in all phases of the design process, including concept development, storyboarding, animation, graphic design and production.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design and produce high-quality motion graphics and video content for various digital platforms, including social media, web, and email campaigns.
  • Design and develop animated HTML5 banners for digital advertising campaigns.
  • Design and conceptualize the storyline based on script and creative brief provided.
  • Produce compelling and engaging motion graphics, interactive banner ads, and video communications that are on-brand and on strategy.
  • Collaborate with marketing and creative teams to conceptualize and execute visual storytelling that supports brand messaging and campaign objectives.
  • Create animations, title sequences, lower thirds, and other motion graphics elements for video projects.
  • Develop storyboards, style frames, and visual concepts for video and animation projects.
  • Work with content creators to enhance video footage with motion graphics, special effects, and other visual elements.
  • Ensure all motion graphics and video content adhere to brand guidelines and meet the highest quality standards.
  • Stay updated with the latest trends, techniques, and technologies in motion graphics and video production.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery while maintaining creative excellence.
  • Collaborate with external vendors, as needed, to support video production and post-production activities.
  • Provide creative input and direction during video shoots and editing sessions.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, digital media, animation, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in motion graphics design, video production, or a related role.
  • Highly skilled with, and deep knowledge of, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premiere Pro, Cinema 4D or equivalent a plus.
  • Extensive knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and Google Web Designer. Understanding of broadcast production a plus.
  • Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript for developing dynamic, interactive banner ads.
  • Strong portfolio and storytelling skills, displaying advanced layout and grid systems, typography, color theory, concept skills, interactive design and video editing.
  • Expert knowledge of motion graphics production workflow, from design, animation, compositing and all technical aspects of  rendering and exporting final videos.
  • Experience executing motion graphics and video in a variety of venues, including online, mobile, and broadcast television.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred:

  • Experience in higher education or a related industry.
  • Experience working with diverse teams and creating content for various cultural and demographic audiences.
  • Experience with sound and editing programs, film shoots a plus.
