Rowan University is seeking a dynamic and strategic Digital Media Production Specialist to spearhead the growth of our online education offerings. As the fourth fastest-growing research institution in the nation, Rowan University is committed to increasing its reach and impact through innovative online learning solutions. This role presents an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional in the rapidly evolving landscape of higher education.  

Responsibilities: 

  • Work as part of a team to conceptualize and actualize creative video concepts from pre production to delivery. 

  • Oversee the creation of style guides, shooting guidelines and researching ideas, new trends in technology and new ways of creating processes for pre production through delivery. 

  • Set up and operate video equipment for recording lectures, presentations, and other academic events. Ensure high-quality audio and visual capture. 

  • Collaborate with subject-matter experts to plan and create storyboards for the creation and production of multimedia lecture content creation. 

  • Create videos that are engaging, visually appealing, and meet the project's goals. 

  • Coordinates shooting schedules with team and talent.

  • Coordinates necessary crew, props and locations when necessary. 

  • Edit recorded footage to produce polished and professional videos. Apply necessary post-production techniques such as color correction, sound enhancement, and video transitions. Add graphics, captions, and special effects to videos as needed. 

  • Provide technical support and guidance to professors regarding video recording and media usage. 

  • Manages production system so that video content is properly tagged, categorized, and easily accessible. 

  • Maintain and troubleshoot video recording equipment. Stay updated on the latest video technology and software to ensure optimal performance. 

  • Track the analytics of online education content. 

  • Ensure all video content adheres to university policies, copyright laws, and accessibility standards. 

Key Metrics Essential for Effective Performance: 

  • Creative Approaches – Use of creative techniques to make educational content more engaging and memorable. 

  • Content Quality – Develop captivating and high-quality video that meets accessibility standards. 

  • Collaborative – Willing to take creative direction, and able to manage several projects at once in a competent manner. 

Qualifications: 

  • Master’s degree in Film Production, Media Studies, Communications, or a related field; OR

  • Bachelor’s in a related field with at least 3 years relevant professional experience. 

  • 3+ years related professional experience in film production and videography. 

  • Proven experience as a videographer

  • Experience managing creative teams. 

  • Proficiency in video editing software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro). 

  • Strong understanding of video production techniques, including lighting, sound, and camera operation. 

  • Strong production coordination skills focus on attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. 

  • Function effectively, both independently and as a member of a team, with a willingness to assist with routine projects and tight timelines. 

  • Strong understanding of online education trends, technologies, and customer needs. 

  • Strategic thinker with a data-driven and results-oriented mindset. 

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with motion graphics and animation. 
  • Experience creating training or educational style videos.  
  • Experience working in an academic or institutional setting.

Residency Requirements

Rowan University is subject to the residency requirements of the NJ First Act (N.J.S.A. 52:14-7, P.L. 2011, Chapter 70). Any person hired to a non-exempt position shall either have their principal residence in New Jersey or have one (1) year from the date of employment to establish, and then maintain, principal residence in the State of New Jersey. Any person hired to an exempt position shall either have their principal residence in New Jersey, Delaware, Pennsylvania, or New York or have ninety (90) days from the date of employment to establish, then maintain, principal residence in the State of New Jersey, Delaware, Pennsylvania, or New York.

The report also contains information about fire statistics in Rowan University on-campus student housing facilities and crime statistics for the three previous calendar years, including reported crimes that occurred on-campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by the University; and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from the campus.
