Associate Director of Annual Giving

Position Summary:

Rowan University is seeking a dynamic self-starter for the fundraising position of Associate Director of Annual Giving. Under the direction of the Director of Annual Giving, the Associate Director will be responsible for the management and execution of annual giving initiatives for Rowan-Virtua Health College of Medicine & Life Sciences, Cooper Medical School of Rowan University, Schreiber School of Veterinary Medicine. The selected candidate will play an integral role in the institution’s comprehensive fundraising campaign, supporting the entire Annual Giving program. This includes executing Rowan University’s annual Day of Giving, the Employee Charitable Giving program, White Coat Notes, and Senior/Graduating Class Gift, among other Annual Giving initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Have experience in annual giving, focusing on writing and executing direct mail, email, and digital solicitations.
  • Will demonstrate initiative, attention to detail, and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Be primarily responsible for managing all aspects of annual giving solicitation for Rowan-Virtua Health College of Medicine & Life Sciences, Cooper Medical School of Rowan University, Schreiber School of Veterinary Medicine.
  • Be a problem-solver who can adapt the annual plan as needed with continual evaluation and progress to goal.
  • Employ a variety of solicitation methods to achieve results, including but not limited to, engagement center communications, direct mail and email campaigns, and social media initiatives.
  • Lead student crowdfunding initiatives and incorporate those campaigns into annual giving schedule.
  • In partnership with University Advancement colleagues, maintain annual giving stewardship initiatives and engagement opportunities.
  • Assist with coordinating other fundraising activities and special projects as assigned by the Director of Annual Giving, including Day of Giving.
  • Adapt duties to best fit the needs of an evolving division.

 

Qualifications:

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • At least 5 years of successful professional and/or fundraising-related experience, preferably in a nonprofit or university environment OR any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and experience managing relationships with volunteers, vendors, and/or cross-functional teams.
  • Goal-oriented self-starter with the ability to organize and prioritize tasks.
  • Knowledge of fundraising principles and best practices in solicitation communications.
  •  Ability to monitor progress, analyze results and work toward goals within deadlines.
  • Ability to manage confidential information with tact and professionalism.
  •  Experience with fundraising platforms. (Anthology Encompass, RNL ScaleFunder, ThankView a plus).
  • Ability to work with all levels of the University community, including senior administrators, deans, board members and other volunteers, faculty, and students.
  • Willingness and flexibility in work schedule as this role will include nights and weekends for division-owned events.

 Note: Evening and weekend work are sometimes required. This is currently a “hybrid-remote” position that balances weekly in-office and remote work. Determinations regarding this position’s potential flexible work options will be considered in adherence to applicable policies and subject to approval by Human Resources.
