This position will conduct the following functions, for the South Jersey Institute for Population Health (SJIPH), but not limited to: Coordinate Research Funding Initiatives, Grant Process Support, Data Collection and Analysis, Report Preparation, Application Management, Data Management and Impact Analysis and Website Coordination. SJIPH was established in 2018 to support collaborative research aimed at addressing the health of rural & urban Southern New Jersey communities.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate Research Funding Initiatives: Support the organization and coordination of materials for SJIPH’s (South Jersey Institute for Population Health’s) research funding programs, ensuring smooth operation and alignment with program objectives.
  • Grant Process Support: Assist in drafting and distributing funding announcements, triaging grant proposals, and compiling draft progress and evaluation reports under the direction of a faculty advisor.
  • Data Collection and Analysis: Gather, review, and synthesize data from published literature, online resources, and internal databases to inform SJIPH’s research on health disparities and community needs.
  • Report Preparation and Content Development: Prepare draft sections for summaries, reports, presentations, and website updates, working closely with the faculty advisor to ensure clarity and accuracy.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Serve as a point of contact for inquiries from potential applicants and funded grantees, fielding questions and providing support as needed.
  • Application Management: Organize and oversee the processing of grant applications, proposals, and related documentation to maintain an accurate and accessible records system.
  • Project Coordination: Collaborate with internal team members and external community stakeholders to ensure project milestones are met and deliverables are achieved.
  • Data Management and Impact Analysis: Utilize databases to track and analyze research project outcomes, preparing summaries that highlight the impact of SJIPH initiatives.
  • Event Coordination: Assist with organizing and leading virtual and in-person events, such as the annual Sandbox event, Partnership Development award, etc. under faculty supervision.
  • Website Coordination: Liaise with website design teams to ensure SJIPH.org content is current and aligns with ongoing projects and outreach efforts.

 Qualifications and Experience:

  • Organizational Skills: Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and timelines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with experience in   crafting reports and summaries for diverse audiences.
  • Interest in Public Health: Enthusiasm for public health issues and a commitment to understanding and addressing health disparities.
  • Technical Proficiency: Skilled in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) with experience managing databases and conducting data analysis.
  •  Analytical Abilities: Demonstrated experience in research, data analysis, and summarizing findings; experience with capstone projects or similar work is a plus.
  •  Team Collaboration: Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, adapting to different roles within team-driven projects.
  • Preferred Education: Master’s degree preferred, with a background in public health, data science, psychology, or a related field. Students in Master’s programs will also be considered.

Travel:

  • This position requires the candidate to spend time at both the SJIPH Camden location or Rowan University in Glassboro.
  • The candidate will occasionally travel across South Jersey to community-based organizations.

Hours:

  • This temporary, part-time position is assigned no more than twenty-five (25) hours per week. Work is contracted annually to coincide with the fiscal year and is contingent upon budget appropriate.
