Program Data Analyst - Physician Assistant Program

TITLE:     Program Data Analyst

DEPARTMENT:     SOM - Physician Assistant Program (Sewell, NJ)

SUPERVISOR'S TITLE:     David DeFilippo, PA Program Director

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Program Data Analyst is responsible for analyzing large sets of data to identify trends, develop insights, support data-driven decision-making and self-assessment process to maintain accreditation for the Physician Assistant Program. This role involves having an in-depth understanding of the Physician Assistant Program’s data needs, designing data models and surveys, and creating reports and visualizations. The Program Data Analyst reports to the Physician Assistant Program Director and guidance from the Associate Dean for Assessment. This position will work closely with the PA Program Director, PA Director of Assessment and Simulation, PA program faculty and staff, and the assessment office to achieve program assessment needs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Data Analysis: Perform detailed data analysis and interpret results to provide actionable insights.
  • Reporting: Develop and maintain regular reports and dashboards to track key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Data Management: Ensure data integrity by implementing data cleaning and validation techniques.
  • Data Warehouse Administration: Manage and maintain the data warehouse environment, ensuring data integrity, security, and performance.
  • API Integration: Develop, manage, and troubleshoot API connections to streamline data ingestion.
  • Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams to gather and understand data requirements and deliver solutions.
  • Tools and Technologies: Utilize tools and access data from Banner, One45, Learning Space, Banner, ExamSoft, admissions platforms (WebAdmit, AMP), Qualtrics, SPSS, SAS, SQL, Python, R, Tableau, or Power BI for data analysis and visualization.
  • Documentation: Document methodologies and processes to ensure repeatability and reproducibility of analyses.
  • Ad Hoc Analysis: Provide ad hoc statistical analysis to support programmatic needs and special projects.
  • Support: Provide support to staff, faculty, and students with program-specific software.
  • Liaison: Act as a liaison to university constituents, students, and applicants.
  • Record Maintenance: Create and maintain meeting minutes and records for the Data Assessent Committee.
  • Accreditation Support: Assist in the preparation, organization, and maintenance of all documents and reports needed for accreditation.
  • Engagement: Participate in regular faculty and staff meetings, retreats, program and university committees, and professional organizations.
  • Documentation: Prepare correspondence and maintain essential records and files.
  • Meeting Coordination: Prepare and distribute needed meeting agendas, transcribe, and distribute minutes from meetings.
  • Confidentiality: Maintain confidential student, faculty, and staff personal information.
  • Time Management: Prioritize work, solve problems, and organize time with minimal supervision.
  • Policy Adherence: Understand and adhere to university policies and compliance standards.
  • Regulatory Awareness: Keep abreast of all federal, state, and Rowan University regulations, laws, and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.
  • Perform other duties, responsibilities, or special projects as needed for the Physician Assistant Program as guided by the PA Program Director.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must hold at least a Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in database management, including relational databases in a production environment (including setup, data entry, analysis, and reporting) required.
  • Must have strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information.
  • Preferred candidates have proficiency in SQL and experience with programming languages such as Python or R.
  • Must have experience with statistical software and survey tools such as Qualtrics, SPSS, SAS, or similar.
  • Experience with data visualization tools like Tableau or Power BI preferred.
  • Must have strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
