Job Title:                          Staff Assistant, Part-Time

SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Associate Director, assists with support functions of Center for Student Success (CSS), including but not limited to the peer tutoring program and the Starfish platform.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Coordinate work study peer tutoring program, including support for all operations, program communications, program resources, training, hiring, and terminations.
  • Serve as an admin for SOM Starfish (RSSN).
  • Identify highly qualified students to participate as tutors. Coordinate and track program recruitment and all steps required to on-board a student tutor, including dissemination of hiring materials and completion of the tutor training.
  • Coordinate hiring process along with the Offices of Financial Aid, Human Resources and Academic Affairs. Maintain RIMS system to reflect all active tutor program work study students.
  • Verify that all eligible tutors have completed the on-line training program. Develop and maintain a directory of active tutors for students to access for tutor matching.
  • Review/approve tutor entries for on-line payroll system. Collaborate with the Financial Aid office to ensure proper use of Federal Work Study funding.
  • Oversee the implementation of administrative actions and the maintenance of official records for the tutoring program and related activities.
  • Assist the Director of the Center for Student Success in maintaining and updating the configurations in Starfish and provide training and support for staff and students.
  • Provides administrative and program support to the Director of the Center for Student Success.
  • Provides on-site support for events and programs for CSS. Support for these activities may require some travel, as well as occasional evenings.
  • Receives and appropriately handles incoming correspondence, makes appointments, schedules meetings, and responds to inquiries.
  • Understands and adheres to Rowan University's compliance standards as they appear in Rowan University's Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.
  • Keeps abreast of all federal, state, and Rowan University regulations, laws, and polices as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

The individual performing this job must possess strong computer skills and an in-depth knowledge of MS Office suite applications as well as experience with on-line survey applications (i.e., Google Forms and Qualtrics). Candidates must also possess strong organization and communication skills, and the ability to multi-task. A background in student program development, administrative or operational support for educational programs and/or experience in student services is preferred. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's Degree in Education, Communications, Business or a related discipline, plus two years (2) year of related experience is required. Applicants lacking the degree may substitute appropriate related experience on a year-for-year basis.

Ability to recognize and manage one’s behaviors and communication to create an inclusive, equitable, and welcoming environment within the department/organization.

SALARY INFORMATION
 
In compliance with The State of New Jersey's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this HPAE position is $24.93 to $28.72, with placement within the range determined by candidate's qualifications, professional experience, internal equity, and other factors.

This is a part-time, regular position, working 20 hours per week.
