The Opportunity:

We are seeking a dynamic, student-centered Career Development Associate to join our passionate team in a part-time, temporary role that will assist our current Career Development Coach. This individual will play a critical role in shaping the career journeys of students by offering guidance, support, and resources that prepare them for internships, full-time roles, and life after graduation.

Key Responsibilities:

Career Coaching:

  • Conduct 1:1 drop-in sessions and scheduled appointments (30 mins) with undergraduate and
    graduate students
  • Provide guidance on resumes, cover letters, LinkedIn profiles, interview prep, job/internship
    search strategies, and career exploration

Workshop Facilitation & Student Engagement:

  • Lead and occasionally revamp in-person and virtual workshops tied to upcoming networking
    events/career fairs, class-based programming, and on the RCPD
  • Update and tailor materials such as resume samples, cover letter templates, and career guides for specific industries, majors, and class years

Collaboration & Strategy:

  • Work closely with the Career Development Coach and Assistant Director of Employer Partnerships
    to ensure coaching strategies, materials, and programming align with employer expectations and
    market trends
  • Stay current on campus recruiting strategies and tools, and bring fresh ideas to strengthen our
    student support offerings


Campus Integration:

  • Partner with faculty, staff, and other colleges and career offices within Rowan to create a
    seamless student experience
  • Represent the RCPD at select campus events, requiring occasional evening hours.

Who You Are:

You’re someone who is passionate about student success, understands the evolving job market, and thrives in a
collaborative environment. You enjoy mentoring others and take pride in helping students build confidence and
professional polish.

Education:

 • Bachelor’s degree required, master’s preferred in Higher Ed, Counseling, Business, or related field
Experience:
 • 3+ years in Career Development, Advising, Higher Education, Human Resources, or related field
Skills & Knowledge:
 • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
 • Creative thinker with a proactive, solutions-oriented approach
 • Strong organizational and time management skills
 • Experience with career services platforms (Handshake, Simplicity, etc.) or applicant tracking systems
 • Comfortable with Zoom, Teams, and virtual facilitation
 • Familiarity with email marketing (e.g., Constant Contact) and social media platforms
 • Bonus: Experience with higher ed platforms such as Banner, CampusLabs, or Tableau
 • Bonus: Trained or knowledgeable in career assessments like Focus2, StrengthsFinder, or MBTI

Rate: $22 - $25 per hour

Hours:

  • This temporary, part-time position is assigned no more than twenty-five (25) hours per week. Work hours cannot exceed 25 hours per week. The work is contracted annually to coincide with the fiscal year and is contingent upon budget appropriation.
