Shreiber Family Pet Therapy Program Clerical Staff (Part-Time Per Diem)

The Shreiber Family Pet Therapy Program Clerk is a part-time position that provides administrative support and customer service at Rowan University. Our ideal candidate is responsible for assisting students and staff with general inquiries supporting the overall daily operations of the Shreiber Family Pet Therapy Program. This role requires strong communication, understanding of intersectionality, and a commitment to promoting a positive and supportive environment to Rowan University’s diverse community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet students, faculty, staff, and visitors with friendly and professional demeanor. Answer general questions regarding Shreiber Family Pet Therapy Program services, programs, and policies.
  • Assist clients with scheduling and confirming appointments for Pet Therapy services.
  • Perform clerical tasks such as filing, data entry, managing office supplies, and handling incoming and outgoing mail.
  • Answer phone calls, emails, and in-person inquiries, directing them to the appropriate resources when necessary. Provide clear information about available services and resources.
  • Support Pet Therapy programs and events by assisting with registration, materials preparation, and coordination of activities.
  • Ensure the front desk area and common spaces are neat, organized, and welcoming to visitors.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality regarding student information and all matters related to the Pet Therapy & other Wellness Center’s services.
  • Assist Shreiber Family Pet Therapy Program and other Wellness Center staff with other tasks as needed, such as special projects or event planning.
  • Work in-person at Rowan University’s Glassboro campus, with occasional local travel to other Rowan University and affiliated campuses (such as Rowan University’s CMSRU, Rowan-Virtua SOM campuses in Sewell and Stratford, and Rowan College of Burlington County).

Recommended Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Cross-cultural sensitivity
  • Strong communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Drive Apps, and basic office equipment (phone, fax, copier).
  • Ability to perform effectively under pressure and adapt to changing demands and priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Customer service orientation and ability to interact with a diverse group of people.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Certified with your therapy dog through Alliance of Therapy Dogs (ATD)
  • Eligible to visit as part of the Shreiber family Pet Therapy Program according to requirements such as: no raw-feeding, only non-aversive training techniques/collars, alignment with the 5 Freedoms of animal welfare (see additional requirements here: go.rowan.edu/PetTherapyVolunteer )

Hours:

  • This temporary, part-time position is assigned no more than twenty-five (25) hours per week (averaging 18-18.5 hours per week, not to exceed 944 hours per year). Work is contracted annually to coincide with the fiscal year and is contingent upon budget appropriate.

Rate: $21 per hour
