Job Description:

Rowan University invites applications for the position of Associate Program Director, Rowan Online Computer Science Programs, a one-year appointment with the possibility of renewal, reporting to the Assistant Vice President of the Online Program Portfolio and working in close collaboration with the Computer Science Department Head. The Associate Program Director will partner with Computer Science faculty to develop new online Computer Science programs (e.g., Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity, the Master of Science in Applied Artificial Intelligence, Master of Science in Data Science, etc.) as well as assist with managing development and deployment of the online Computer Science curriculum used by other non-Computer Science programs. The Associate Program Director will also coordinate the existing online Bachelor of Science in Computer Systems Technology and Master of Science in Cybersecurity programs. The role includes significant input into curriculum design and full oversight of the program development lifecycle including instructional planning, operational launch, day-to-day program coordination, and navigating areas of concern. The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in curriculum development, faculty coordination, and project execution within an online education environment. This is an in-person position, with an expectation of working at least four days per week from the Rowan University Glassboro Campus.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Participate in project kickoff and ongoing planning meetings with the Rowan Online Operations team.
  • Lead all curriculum-related tasks for new program development and institutional approval processes in conjunction with the Computer Science Curriculum Committee.
  • Define and confirm program learning outcomes, student learning goals, student learning outcomes, and academic standards.
  • Design and adapt course and program-level curriculum mapping aligned to student learning outcomes.
  • Develop and refine course curriculum, sequences for both required and elective courses, and credit structures tailored for the online modality.
  • Identify, recruit, and support Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) for course development.
  • Review SME-developed courses as needed to ensure quality and alignment with program goals.
  • Assist SMEs during the proposal development phase to align proposals with Rowan Online standards and translate Rowan Online requirements in the context of specific courses to facilitate proposal remediation.
  • Collaborate with Rowan Online to establish instructional design plans for each course.
  • Coordinate with the Department of Computer Science and Rowan Online to develop semester-by-semester course offerings that support all approved admissions points for Rowan Online students.
  • Collaborate and consult regularly with both the Department of Computer Science and Rowan Online to ensure alignment of academic standards, curriculum development, instructional design, and program goals.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing and Admissions teams to select admissions criteria; refine the target audience, program positioning, and associated marketing and admissions collateral; identify application and prerequisite requirements appropriate for the online context; and submit program information through the Academic Program Review (APR) Portal.
  • Partner with the Rowan Online Operations team and departmental schedulers to: develop master course schedules and course sequencing; create job descriptions for and hire adjuncts; and assign instructional staff.
  • Provide program-specific details to the Rowan Online Student Success Team to ensure accurate advising by Online Success Coaches.
  • Maintain clear and regular communication with departmental leadership on program progress, milestones, and issues.
  • Generate and analyze program data to inform continuous improvement efforts, optimize program performance, and support decision-making related to curriculum, enrollment, and student success.
  • Monitor ongoing program effectiveness through assessment of student learning outcomes and recommend improvements based on data; ensure alignment with accreditation standards and industry expectations, as appropriate.
  • Liaise with certification providers (CompTIA, EC-Council, ISC2) to maintain current exam outcomes and inform Rowan Online of updates.

 

Required Education:

  • Master’s degree in Cybersecurity, Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a closely related field from an accredited college or university. Candidates with a doctorate in a related field are also encouraged to apply.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in higher education, including curriculum development
  • and academic program oversight, faculty collaboration, and course development for online delivery.
  • Strong interpersonal and team collaboration skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in online education, including familiarity with instructional design, course review, and LMS platforms (e.g., Canvas).
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage complex timelines and coordinate across multiple stakeholders.
  • Advanced technical skills in business systems including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access), and Google Suite (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms).
  • Aptitude to plan, organize and work on multiple competing priorities and in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong orientation toward teamwork and the ability to achieve work through others.
  • Experience working with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Ability to synthesize input from academic and administrative stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to academic quality and student success.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Experience launching fully online undergraduate and/or graduate programs.
  • Experience with academic governance and program approval processes.
  • Familiarity with Rowan University systems such as Banner, OnBase, COGNOS, and Canvas.
  • Experience managing adjunct faculty and program staffing logistics.
  • Knowledge of national standards in cybersecurity or data science education (e.g., CAE, NICE Framework, ABET guidelines).
  • Knowledge of certification space for cybersecurity and data science.
  • Current CompTIA/EC-Council certification(s) - Data Science +, Security +, CySA+, CEH, etc.

Salary & Benefits:

  • In compliance with The State of New Jersey's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $72,000 to $88,000. When extending any salary offer, Rowan University considers many factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, work experience, education, training, key skills, internal equity, as well as market and other organizational considerations.
