The Rowan Virtua School of Osteopathic Medicine is seeing candidates for a Nutritionist at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine. The department is expanding its base of activity in the field of nutrition and is seeking individuals whose education and research utilize contemporary techniques to address fundamental questions related to a broad range of topics.

Qualified candidates whose work, teaching, and research focused in the areas of gut microbiome, Crohn’s disease, nutrigenomics, nutrition therapy counseling, plant nutrition, and diabetes are especially encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will also serve as the Director of the Institute for Health Access and Advancement. 

Applicants seeking the Assistant Professor position should have a Ph.D., MD/Ph.D. or equivalent in Nutrition or a related field with a record of accomplishment in research and evidence of potential to develop and maintain a funded research program that complements areas of expertise within the Department of Internal Medicine. Those candidates seeking an Associate Professor/Professor position should have an established research program and a history of extramural funding. The successful candidate will join a productive and highly collaborative faculty. The position is expected to be research-intensive and will include some teaching responsibilities for graduate and medical education in the study of nutrition courses. Salary, start-up funds, and other considerations will be commensurate with experience, existing funding, and consistent with a commitment to recruit, support, and retain exceptional individuals.  A comprehensive benefits package includes Rowan undergraduate tuition for eligible dependents.

In compliance with the State of New Jersey’s Pay Transparency Act, the salary range for this position is $100,060 -$ 138,325.  When extending any salary offer, Rowan University considers many factors such as, but not limited to, scope of responsibilities of the position, work experience, education, training, key skills, internal equity, as well as market and other organizational considerations.

The Rowan-Virtua School of Osteopathic Medicine and the School of Translational Biomedical Engineering & Sciences are located in Stratford, NJ; 8 miles from Philadelphia, 1 hour from the Atlantic Ocean, and 2 hours from New York City. The Department of Neuroscience is housed in a modern, fully equipped research building.

Residency Requirements

Rowan University is subject to the residency requirements of the NJ First Act (N.J.S.A. 52:14-7, P.L. 2011, Chapter 70). Any person hired to a non-exempt position shall either have their principal residence in New Jersey or have one (1) year from the date of employment to establish, and then maintain, principal residence in the State of New Jersey. Any person hired to an exempt position shall either have their principal residence in New Jersey, Delaware, Pennsylvania, or New York or have ninety (90) days from the date of employment to establish, then maintain, principal residence in the State of New Jersey, Delaware, Pennsylvania, or New York.

Note on STEM-OPT Employment
Please note that STEM OPT employment is not permitted at Rowan University. To be eligible for a STEM OPT extension, the student's employer must be registered in E-Verify and must use the system to verify all new employees. While Rowan University is registered in the E-Verify system, the University does not use the system to verify all new employees, only those that are working on a Federal Contract. This means that Rowan does not permit individuals to work at the University using a STEM OPT Employment Authorization Document as proof of US Work Authorization.

Annual Security and Fire Safety Report

The report contains information regarding campus security and personal safety including topics such as crime prevention, RUPD authority/jurisdiction, crime reporting policies, fire safety, disciplinary procedures and other matters of importance related to security on all our campuses. The report also contains information about fire statistics in Rowan University on-campus student housing facilities and crime statistics for the three previous calendar years, including reported crimes that occurred on-campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by the University; and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from the campus. This information is required by federal law, Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act or the "Clery Act" and is provided by the Rowan University Police Department.
