This position is based at Rowan Online’s dynamic and interactive team hub, located in downtown Glassboro, NJ. This student-centered role occasionally requires evening and weekend hours, along with occasional local travel to provide diverse engagement opportunities with Rowan Online’s learning community.
What is the opportunity?
Rowan Online is dedicated to expanding access, empowering students, and elevating the impact of high-quality digital education. We are seeking a strategic and student-centered leader to serve as the Director of Online Faculty Success and Course Operations. In close collaboration with the Academic Affairs Office and academic departments, this role supports and coordinates online course scheduling, staffing, and faculty support for online programs. The Director ensures students have access to the courses they need to progress toward graduation while fostering strong partnerships between Rowan Online and the academic enterprise. This position leads, manages, and evaluates a team responsible for supporting academic departments through faculty recruitment coordination, onboarding, training, and operational support of online courses, ensuring high performance and alignment with institutional goals.

What will you be doing?
Student-Centered Scheduling

Develop and implement division-wide scheduling practices that prioritize student access and timely progression.

Oversee operations and coordination of master online course schedules in partnership with academic departments, Academic Affairs, and advising teams.

Address operational challenges such as course cancellations, low-enrolled sections, and faculty staffing gaps in collaboration with academic leadership.

Work collaboratively with advisors and academic departments to remove barriers to registration and promote accessible scheduling pathways.
Faculty Recruitment & Support

Lead coordination and operations of the online faculty pool, including recruitment processes, onboarding, and training in close partnership with academic departments..

Coordinate efforts to support academic departments in meeting staffing needs aligned with student scheduling demands.

Provide operational support to academic departments for recruitment, hiring coordination, and contracting processes in partnership with Academic Affairs and in accordance with university policies.

Design and deliver faculty orientation and ongoing professional development opportunities in collaboration with academic partners.

Partner with HR, the Registrar, Academic Affairs, and Online Operations teams to ensure efficient processes and timely resolution of issues.
Operational Leadership

Lead and evaluate day-to-day operations of online courses and the performance of the operations team, with a focus on efficiency and positive student outcomes.

Set clear timelines, goals, and benchmarks for staffing and scheduling.

Represent Rowan Online in collaboration with university academic leadership to align scheduling with institutional priorities.

Introduce innovative solutions to improve course scheduling, faculty support, and student success.

Support team professional growth in online education and course operations best practices.

Directly supervise, manage, and evaluate operations staff, including setting performance expectations, conducting regular performance reviews, coaching for development, and addressing personnel matters in alignment with university policies.
Data-Driven Improvement & Assessment

Lead day-to-day operations of online course scheduling and faculty coordination with a focus on service, efficiency, and student access.

Establish clear timelines and operational goals for staffing and scheduling cycles.

Represent Rowan Online in collaborative discussions with Academic Affairs and university academic leadership to align course planning with institutional priorities.

Introduce process improvements to enhance course scheduling, faculty support, and cross-departmental coordination.

Support team professional growth in online education and course operations best practices.
What do we require from you?
-
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
-
Four (4) years of professional experience managing projects, administrative operations, or scheduling in higher education.

Demonstrated supervisory experience, including direct staff management, performance evaluations, coaching, and personnel actions.

Knowledge of higher education scheduling policies and practices.

Proven ability to build collaborative relationships with faculty, staff, and stakeholders.

Ability to apply scheduling data to support student success.
-
Strong communication skills and experience working with diverse student populations.

Team-oriented leadership style.
-
Successfully complete criminal clearance as required.
Preferred:

Master’s degree in Education, Higher Education Administration, Instructional Design, or related field.

Experience managing online course operations, guided pathways, or centrally supported online programs.

Familiarity with LMS and scheduling software.

Experience using data analytics to optimize staffing and improve student outcomes.

Experience leading professional development programs for faculty.

Knowledge of equity-minded practices in course scheduling and faculty support.

Strong project management skills and ability to lead cross-functional initiatives.

Salary and Benefits:
In compliance with The State of New Jersey's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is Managerial ($100,000.00 - $115,000.00), with placement within the range determined by candidate's qualifications, professional experience, internal equity, and other factors. The university may consider compensation above this range based on verified experience, specialized skills, or other job-related factors consistent with pay-equity guidelines.
For internal applicants, salary is determined per the Pay Adjustment formula (NJAC 4A:3-4.9 & 4.10)
