Academic Affairs & Student Services at Rowan-Virtua SOM is in need of an advanced practice nurse who will serve as a key team member on a mobile health unit in Cumberland County, New Jersey, providing screening and treatment for chronic health conditions.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Conduct physical examinations to diagnose and treat acute and chronic illnesses among patients engaged through mobile outreach.

  • Supervise mobile unit staff/students as they provide on-site screenings and point-of-care blood testing/imaging; provides referrals as appropriate.  

  • Provide preventive services including vaccinations, health screenings, chronic disease self-management, and wellness education.

  • Ensure medical supplies and diagnostic equipment are maintained and functioning properly on the mobile unit. 

  • Provide care coordination, including referrals to medical and specialty care. 

  • Maintain a schedule of patient appointments delivered through mobile outreach or in-office practice.

  • Prescribe medications and maintain a CDS/DEA license following State of New Jersey laws for advanced practice nurses.  

  • Complete all compliance training required by the University.

  • Function as an integral member of the healthcare team on the mobile unit and collaborate with community health workers (CHWs) to achieve long-term and short-term patient goals.

  • Oversee a Rural Health Service Corps of medical students who will assist in screening residents for chronic disease and implementing new interventions to support rural health.

  • Collaborate with the Project Coordinator to ensure data collection is being implemented to meet grant reporting requirements.

  • Participate in all training required for the grant.

  • Be available to serve as driver of mobile unit as needed

  • Attend meetings as required.

  • Assist in the preparation of reports and spreadsheets containing findings, analyses, conclusions, and recommendations as requested. Assist in the preparation of reports required by the sponsor. 

  • Understand and adheres to Rowan-Virtua SOM compliance standards as they appear in the Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct, and Conflict of Interest Policy

  • Keep abreast of all federal, state, and Rowan University regulations, laws, and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.

Requirements:

This successful candidate will work on a mobile unit in Cumberland County, New Jersey. The hours will be 40 per week (full-time). This role is a 6-month position with renewal possible. Must have a valid Driver’s License. 

Qualifications:

Active nurse practitioner licensed in the State of New Jersey. Must have active CDS/DEA license. Experience in primary care required. Prior work on a mobile unit is desirable. Ability to work in rural community settings in a team environment is essential.

Salary:

In compliance with the State of New Jersey’s Pay Transparency Act, the salary range for this six month position is $74,000 - $84,100.  When extending any salary offer, Rowan University considers many factors such as, but not limited to, scope of responsibilities of the position, work experience, education, training, key skills, internal equity, as well as market and other organizational considerations.
