Registered Dietitian (Temporary Part-Time)

Location: Office located in Stratford, NJ with travel throughout Cumberland County

Department: Academic Affairs & Student Services

Hours: 20 hours per week

Summary:

Academic Affairs & Student Services at Rowan-Virtua SOM is looking for a part time Dietitian for a six month temporary assignment.  The selected Dietitian will conduct group nutritional education in a teaching kitchen program and one-on-one nutritional interventions in-home, with the goal of promoting healthy eating habits and preventing diet-related chronic health conditions.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Provide nutritional assessments in the client’s home, including assessments of food insecurity, ability to prepare meals, and access to whole foods.

  • Conduct home cooking environment analysis, including evaluation of available cooking space, utensils, and storage capacity, in order to provide practical recommendations for home cooking.

  • Provide personalized nutritional counseling to clients, including precision counseling for specific chronic disease states (i.e., diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, heart disease, and renal disease).

  • Design personalized healthy meal plans, including grocery lists and recipes.

  • Be available to serve as driver of mobile unit as needed

  • Work with a chef and teaching kitchen participants to develop and deliver healthy cooking classes for the teaching kitchen.

  • Provide nutritional information during cooking classes at the Rowan-Virtua Teaching Kitchen, in partnership with a chef.

  • Emphasize the concept of “food as medicine without sacrificing taste” during teaching kitchen classes.

  • Participate in all training required for the grant.

  • Attend meetings as required.

Requirements:

The teaching kitchen dietician will provide in-home nutritional counseling and nutritional counseling during a teaching kitchen.  This is a part-time hourly position. The role is a 3-6-month position with the possibility of renewal. Must have a valid Driver’s License. 

Qualifications:

Registered dietician with current licensure from the Commission on Dietetic Registration.  Passion for implementing new nutritional interventions to address diet-related chronic health conditions and the ability to work in a team environment are essential.

Salary:

In compliance with the State of New Jersey’s Pay Transparency Act, the rate is $45-$50 per hour.  When extending any salary offer, Rowan University considers many factors such as, but not limited to, scope of responsibilities of the position, work experience, education, training, key skills, internal equity, as well as market and other organizational considerations.
