Assistant Dean for Student Success and Strategic Enrollment

Position Summary

The Assistant Dean for Student Success and Strategic Enrollment serves as a senior member of the College of Education leadership team and provides strategic leadership for undergraduate student success, strategic enrollment management, recruitment, retention, selected academic affairs functions, and student engagement. Working collaboratively with the Dean, department chairs, faculty, university offices, and external partners, the Assistant Dean develops, implements, and assesses initiatives that promote enrollment growth, student persistence, academic success, and degree completion while advancing the College's educator workforce mission.

Student Success and Academic Affairs

  • Provide strategic leadership for undergraduate student success initiatives that promote persistence, engagement, academic achievement, and timely degree completion.
  • Serve as the primary college-level administrator for undergraduate student matters requiring review or resolution.
  • Oversee undergraduate academic administrative processes assigned by the Dean, including student appeals, petitions, academic exceptions, grade disputes, faculty grievances involving students, and Transition Point Committee eligibility and appeals.
  • Review undergraduate academic probation and suspension matters and coordinate appropriate interventions.
  • Collaborate with Advising, the Registrar, Financial Aid, the Academic Success Center, Rowan Global/Reach, department chairs, and program coordinators to support student success.
  • Monitor undergraduate progression, retention, and graduation data and recommend evidence-based improvements.
  • Coordinate communications regarding academic policies, deadlines, and student success resources.
  • Oversee the College of Education Student Ambassador Program.
  • Coordinate student recognition initiatives including the Pinning and Induction Ceremony, Distinguished Clinical Intern Awards, President's and Dean's List recognition, and commencement-related activities.
  • Collaborate with Rowan Thrive to support ProfPal and related mentoring initiatives.

 

Scholarship Access and Student Financial Success

  • Lead the College's scholarship awareness strategy and serve as liaison for Scholarship Universe.
  • Develop year-round scholarship communication campaigns for prospective, admitted, and continuing students.
  • Integrate scholarship information into recruitment and orientation activities.
  • Collaborate with University Advancement, Financial Aid, Communications, and academic departments to increase scholarship awareness and utilization.
  • Monitor scholarship participation and recommend strategies to improve student access.

 

Strategic Enrollment Management

  • Lead strategic enrollment planning for undergraduate, transfer, and educator pipeline programs.
  • Coordinate recruitment initiatives aligned with College enrollment priorities.
  • Represent the College at recruitment events, including Open Houses, Accepted Student Days, Orientation, and community outreach.
  • Develop partnerships with school districts, community colleges, high schools, and community organizations.
  • Coordinate Teacher Preparation Academy recruitment and related educator pipeline initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Admissions, Advising, Rowan Global/Reach, department chairs, and program coordinators to strengthen enrollment and yield.
  • Analyze enrollment trends and prepare reports that inform strategic decision-making, and support continuous improvement.
  • Ensure recruitment communications accurately reflect academic programs and curricular changes.

 

Strategic Partnerships and College Initiatives

  • Coordinate educator workforce pipeline initiatives and district partnerships (eg., Teacher Prep Academy, THRIVE and other pipeline programs).
  • Support college-wide recruitment, career, and student engagement events.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to strengthen pathways into educator preparation.
  • Lead special projects assigned by the Dean that advance College strategic priorities.

 

Leadership and University Service

  • Serve as a member of the College leadership team.
  • Represent the College on university committees related to enrollment, student success, and undergraduate education.
  • Collaborate with the Dean's Office on strategic communications and operational planning.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean.

Qualifications:

Required

  • Doctoral degree (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) in higher education, educational leadership, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in higher education administration, student success, enrollment management, academic affairs, or a related area.
  • Experience supervising staff and managing initiatives across departments or offices.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead initiatives that improve student persistence, engagement, and degree completion.
  • Experience building partnerships across academic units and with schools, community colleges, or community organizations.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, communication, and collaborative leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to working with students and colleagues from diverse backgrounds and to fostering an environment of collegiality, professional development, and respect.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience developing recruitment or educator workforce pathways with schools, community colleges, or community partners.
  • Evidence of program innovation informed by enrollment and student success data.

Salary & Benefits

  • In compliance with The State of New Jersey's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $88,000 to $100,000 with placement within the range determined by candidate's qualifications, professional experience, internal equity, and other factors.
  • For internal applicants, salary is determined per the Pay Adjustment formula (NJAC 4A:3-4.9 & 4.10)
  • For eligible employees, benefits include: comprehensive NJ State health, dental and retirement benefits, extensive accrued time off/paid holidays, and tuition reimbursement for employee, spouse, and dependents to attend Rowan University, Glassboro. (Tuition reimbursement will apply to undergraduate degrees only for spouse and dependents).
