The Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering (CEE) at Rowan University invites applications for a non-tenure track, ¾ time faculty position for the 2022 Fall and 2023 Spring semester. The successful candidates will be responsible for teaching innovative and project-based courses in the Civil & Environmental Engineering curriculum. Applicants with expertise in all fundamental areas of Civil & Environmental Engineering are invited to apply, however, our priority areas – starting with the greatest need are:

  • Environmental and Water Resources engineering (Water/Wastewater Treatment, Fluid Mechanics, Water Resources Engineering, Labs for Environmental Engineering, Fluid Mechanics and Water Resources Engineering)
  • Surveying (Lecture and Lab)

The Department greatly values experiential and project-based learning, integrating emerging topics and technologies into the curriculum, and provides outstanding and state-of-the-art laboratories that support teaching and research. We seek individuals who are passionate about teaching and have the skills and dedication to develop innovative hands-on lab projects or other experiential learning activities using appropriate modern tools, and the ability to integrate such projects / activities into the course content. Any experience with assessment, pedagogy and scholarship of engineering education would be very valuable. A ¾ time appointment typically carries a 9-credit / semester teaching load (or 18 credits in one academic year), and pays ¾ of the applicable salary of a full-time instructor, with no other benefits.

Applicants must have earned at least a Master of Science degree in Civil & Environmental Engineering. Strong communications skills, the ability to work with multi-disciplinary student and faculty teams, and ability to teach in a project-based setting are essential. A PE is preferred but not required. The appointment is initially for the Fall 2022 and Spring 2023 semesters, possibly renewable based on performance, departmental needs and university and budgetary approvals. Applicants must have current, legal authorization to work in the United States, valid at least until June 30, 2023, and preferably beyond. The University will not support visa / immigration requests for this position.
