The College of Education at Rowan University is searching for an Associate/Full Professor to serve the Elementary Education program with an emphasis on Teacher Education and Community Engagement. This is a full-time, tenure-track position. The candidate will teach courses in the Bachelor of Arts in Education, Elementary Education program (K-6) on the Rowan-Camden campus, present at state, national and international conferences, produce high-quality scholarly research in appropriate venues for their respective field, and pursue external funding for projects. The successful candidate will participate in service initiatives, at the program department, college and university level.

 

Required Qualifications:

● Doctoral degree (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) in elementary education, teacher education, curriculum/instruction, or a closely related field from an accredited institution of higher education at the time of application;

● A minimum of 3 years of successful teaching experience in K-6 classrooms;

● A record of scholarly publications consistent with an associate professor level;

● Demonstrated record of success in teaching initial licensure teacher candidates;

● Demonstrated knowledge of the field of elementary education, including standards, professional organizations, issues, and trends;

● Demonstrated commitment to inclusion, social justice and equity in education through K-6 community engagement ;

● Demonstrated ability and effectiveness in communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, as well as collaboration, collegiality, and respect for all people;

● Demonstrated teaching, scholarship and service commitments consistent with the mission of the College of Education of access, success and equity; and

● Experience working with school districts in urban contexts and building university-district partnerships through teaching, research, and service.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

● Eligible to meet state licensure requirements for New Jersey elementary education (K-6) and Demonstrated record of success in securing external funding to support scholarship;

● Experience with higher education teaching in multiple formats, including online, hybrid, face-to-face, off-campus satellite location, and the supervision of teacher candidates;

● Experience with program coordination or leadership or a willingness to lead at the program level;

● Experience teaching in a rural or urban setting;

● Advocacy related to access, success, and equity issues in education;

● Familiarity with program recognition and the accreditation standards of the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP);

● Experience with multiple forms of assessment and the evaluation of practitioners, particularly Charlotte Danielson’s Framework for Teaching.
