SUMMARY: The Department of Health & Exercise Science at Rowan University invites applications a for tenure track position (rank commensurate with qualifications and experience) to begin Fall 2025, to contribute the success of the Athletic Training Program through excellence in teaching, research and service.
JOB DESCRIPTON:
The Rowan-Virtua Rita & Larry Salva School of Nursing and Health Professions invites applications for a 10-month tenure-track faculty position (rank commensurate with qualifications and experience) in the Department of Health and Exercise Science’s Athletic Training Program, starting September 1, 2025.
We seek outstanding candidates who hold a Ph.D., DAT, DPE or Ed.D. in Athletic Training or related field. Successful candidates are expected to develop and maintain an active, extramurally funded research program through outstanding scholarship, to lead the AT Program in assisting the departmental growth in scholarly activity and contribute to the University’s achievement and maintenance of Carnegie R1 designation, to demonstrate excellence in teaching and mentoring both graduate and undergraduate students, and to contribute at an appropriate level to service to the Department, School, University, and wider/professional community.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teach courses within the Pre-Athletic Training Curriculum and the CAATE accredited Athletic Training Program (ATP)
- Conduct rigorous scholarly activity and successfully compete for external funding consistent with Rowan University’s research trajectory
- Assist with Athletic Training Program administration
- Provide service to the Department, College/School and University
Required Qualifications:
- Hold PhD or equivalent terminal degree including but not limited to Ed.D., DAT, DPE, from an accredited institution of higher education in Athletic Training or a related field
- Hold current national certification and be in good standing with the Board of Certification, Inc.
- Be eligible for and maintain New Jersey State licensure
- Have experience teaching within a CAATE accredited Athletic Training Program
- Have at least three years of Athletic Training clinical experience
- Demonstrate the ability to successfully compete for external funding from a variety of funding sources in a changing research environment
Successful candidates will have demonstrated the ability to provide a welcoming learning environment for all students, and contributing positively to a sense of belonging among students, faculty and staff.
The MSAT maintains a strong reputation for sustaining high standards and having student-centered faculty to prepare students to enter the Athletic Training Profession. In 12 of the last 14 years, the ATP has maintained a BOC Exam first-time pass rate of 100%. The ATP is a two-year graduate program with a 3 year pre-Athletic Training curriculum designed to prepare students for the professional preparation Athletic Training Program. The ATP continues to strive to produce highly qualified candidates who will provide exceptional quality health care and move the Athletic Training profession into the future. The Rowan-Virtua Rita & Larry Salva School of Nursing & Health Professions is one of three schools within the Virtua Health College of Medicine and Life Sciences of Rowan University (VHC), along with the Rowan-Virtua School of Osteopathic Medicine and School of Translational Biomedical Engineering and Sciences. The Department of Health & Exercise Science is one of three departments in the Salva School, along with the departments of Allied Health and Nursing. The department houses two accelerated programs, the MS in Athletic Training and BS in Nutrition/MS in Dietetics, and a fully online MA in Wellness and Lifestyle Management program. The department also offers a Health Studies degree completion program and a 3 + 1 BA in Fitness Management (in partnership with Rowan College of South Jersey).
